Doug Jones, Douglas Smith, Cressida Bonas and Lucien Laviscount have signed on to star in horror-thriller “The Bye Bye Man,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The film, produced by Los Angeles Media Fund and Intrepid Pictures, is in pre-production now for a Nov. 2 start of principal photography in Cleveland. Trevor Macy is producing for Intrepid and Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman are producing for LAMF.

Stacy Title is directing. Jonathan Penner adapted the script from the short story “The Bridge to Body Island” by Robert Damon Schneck.

The film recounts a series of terrifying events experienced by three Wisconsin college students, to be played by Smith, Bonas and Laviscount, who are the leads. Jones will play the title character.

Jones has been in the Hellboy franchise, “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” “The Strain” and “Pan’s Labyrinth.” Smith is currently shooting “Vinyl” for HBO and was seen in “Terminator Genisys” and “Ouija.”

Bonas is currently shooting “Dr. Thorne” and will next appear in Justin Chadwick’s “Tulip Fever.” Laviscount is currently shooting “Scream Queens” and will be seen in “Coco.”

LAMF was launched last September by Soros and Horsman. Its first film was the psychological thriller “The Disappointments Room,” co-produced with Relativity Media and Media Talent Group and starring Kate Beckinsale.

Intrepid has produced “The Strangers,” “Safe House,” “Oculus” and the upcoming “Before I Wake,” starring Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane. Macy is currently in production on “Ouija 2.”
