Today, May 5, 2016, Red Hat, Inc., the world's leading provider of open source solutions, has announced in a press release the availability of Red Hat Software Collection 2.2 Beta and Red Hat Developer Toolset 4.1 Beta.

Red Hat Software Collections 2.2 will be the second maintenance release in the stable 2.x series of Red Hat’s collection of open-source web development tools, databases, and dynamic languages, bringing MariaDB 10.1, PostgreSQL 9.5, MongoDB 3.2, Node.js v4.2.2, Ruby 2.3, Python 3.5, Rails 4.2, Maven 3.3, Apache 2.4, and Thermostat 1.4.

"Delivered on a separate lifecycle from Red Hat Enterprise Linux with a more frequent release cadence, Red Hat Software Collections bridges developer agility and production stability by helping to accelerate the creation of modern applications that can then be more confidently deployed into production," reads today's announcement.

GCC 5.3 and GDB 7.11 are coming to Red Hat Developer Toolset 4.1

The Beta of Red Hat Developer Toolset 4.1 includes several up-to-date open-source components, among which we can mention the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) 5.3, the GNU Project Debugger (GDB) 7.11, Eclipse IDE (Integrated Development Environment) 4.5.2, Dynist 9.1, as well as SystemTap 2.9.

Both Red Hat Software Collections 2.2 Beta and Developer Toolset 4.1 Beta are now accessible through Red Hat's Enterprise Linux Developer Program, enabling developers to compile software projects once and then deploy them across multiple Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions.

Red Hat partners and customers with an active Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription can now download and install the Beta builds of Red Hat Software Collections 2.2 and Developer Toolset 4.1 directly from the Red Hat Customer Portal, where they can also access Dockerfiles and Docker-formatted images of numerous of Red Hat's software collections.
