It looks like Captain Marvel is indeed in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.

The movie's directors - the Russo Brothers - might have just accidentally confirmed the news while speaking at a Q&A session at the Smithsonian Institute.

According to Comic Book, the Russos mentioned Captain Marvel by name when discussing Infinity War.

A fan quickly pounced to ask: "Did you just confirm Captain Marvel?"

"Um… Captain Barvel," came the jokey response. "Totally different character."

Oops. That witty reply is good as confirmation from Marvel, right?

The films will likely feature cosmic warlord Thanos as a main villain, while Robert Downey Jr is expected to be back as Iron Man alongside Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, Chris Hemsworth's Thor and other heroes.

The next two Avengers movies will be released on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019.
