In case you missed it, today Nancy Pelosi shut up CNS reporter Sam Dorman during her weekly press conference because his question was “ideological.”

CNS: “Is an unborn baby with a human heart and a human liver a human being?”
Pelosi: “Why don’t you take your ideological questions…Listen, I’m going to say something to you. I don’t know who you are and you are welcome to be here in freedom of this press. I am a devout, practicing Catholic. I’m a mother of five children. When my baby was born, my fifth child, my oldest was six. I think I know more about this subject than you, with all due respect. And I do not intend to respond to your questions, which have no basis in what public policy is that we do here.”
Seriously? Questions of who counts as a human being and which human beings deserve legal protection have no place in the abortion debate?
Abortion advocates have had to admit the humanity of the unborn child as scientific advancement has continually betrayed them since the early 70s. So is their only option now to avoid important questions like this altogether?
It is no wonder Nancy Pelosi doesn’t want to answer that obviously pertinent question. Look at what happened the last time she attempted to navigate the murky waters of abortion apologetics.
Two years ago, The Weekly Standard’s John McCormack asked her this questions: “[W]hat is the moral difference between what Dr. Gosnell did to a baby born alive at 23 weeks and aborting her moments before birth?”

In the process of trying to not answer the question directly, she uttered a line that has haunted her ever since: “[A]s a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this. I don’t think it should have anything to do with politics. “
So there you have it. Just like the President who considered the question of when human life begins as irrelevant to the discussion of abortion because it was above his pay grade, Pelosi utterly refuses to consider questions of morality and humanity.
Pro-Lifers need to keep pressing pro-abortion politicians on these important issues. They have little or no true defense, or at least none that is coherent or that they want the public to hear.
