Chiara from San Francisco asked

Non touristy towns and little islands in Indonesia?

I like small towns, villages and secluded islands. Any tips where to find somewhere like this in Indonesia? Also what are the best months to go in terms of weather and temperature?

There are a lot of pretty islands in indonesia.

- You can try Raja Ampat Kite if you like diving. I've never been there, but I have heard a lot of good stories about it. It's also not too crowded yet, as it might still be a bit pricey for locals.

Gili Trawangan is also good. It has several islands and are beautiful to go and relax.

Komodo Island is pretty too.

The Gili Islands are a group of stunning small islands.  There was nothing there 18 years ago.  Hopefully, they are still small and untouched.  Ubud in Bali is a beautiful spot for biking and taking in the natural beauty of the island.

Try Medan, Manado (Bunaken) and Raja Ampat which is the ultimate place for diving

Best months - just avoid the rainy seasons, Sep - Feb (i think)

Last August, I was a few days in Gili Trawangan is a small Island, beautiful and loved, with all the basic amenities to spend a few days of rest ... is a very cool place, where the food is delicious, the roads are sandy and the "taxi" little carts pulled by horses, there are no cars on the Island, but has bikes for hire ... has small shops, and nice restaurants! The island is 3 hours from Bali by car and ferry!! But Ubud (in Bali) and the surrounding area is also very beautiful the rice paddies, temples we could visit, rafting on the Ayung river, walks through rice paddies, everything is beautiful though Ubud center, has a lot of people!!
