Yesterday, Facebook started rolling out its "Reactions" buttons—the social media platform's much-buzzed-about non-Like buttons. Making their debut in Ireland and Spain, the Love, Haha, Yay, Wow, Sad, and Angry emoji-ish options provide users the ability to react to news like losses, political rants, and puppies in a spectrum of emotion—beyond Facebook's classic thumbs-up.
"Our goal is to show you the stories that matter most to you in News Feed," Facebook powers-that-be announced on its blog. "Initially, just as we do when someone likes a post, if someone uses a Reaction, we will infer they want to see more of that type of post. We will spend time learning from this initial rollout and iterate based on findings in the future."
