UPDATE ONE: Fallout 4 Xbox One fans who successfully signed up to try out the new modding feature will soon have their chance.

Invites for the closed beta were sent out this morning, according to a tweet from Bethesda, the company asked for those interested to post their interest earlier in May.

Those who have been selected for the testing will have received an email notifying them of their success.

"Invites to the Closed Beta for #Fallout4 Mods have deployed this morning," a message from Bethesda confirms.

"Check your inbox to see if you're in.

"A new Xbox update (1.5.205) for Fallout 4 is live in preparation for Mods. Closed Beta access for mods is scheduled for next week."

This previous message sent via Twitter went out on May 20, meaning that access to beta mod support could start any day.

It is unclear how thorough the screening process will be for console mods, Bethesda have said in the past that the new feature is likely to go live by the end of May for Xbox One, followed by the PS4 in June.

The mods currently available through Bethesda.net stands at 1706, the most popular so far is the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, which aims to fix all problems in the game not tackled by Bethesda.

The Fallout 4 patch mod has been downloaded over 50,000 times.

A new Fallout 4 update for Xbox One has been launched by Bethesda to make way for mod support.

The patch weighs in at around 4GB and will allow those selected for the closed beta to try out the new feature, ready for next week.

Fallout 4 version 1.5.205 can now be downloaded but it appears that mod support for Xbox One will not arrive until next month.

“A new Xbox update (1.5.205) for #Fallout 4 is live in preparation for Mods. Closed Beta access for mods is scheduled for next week,” a message from the Bethesda team explains.

It isn’t currently known if Bethesda will be able to squeeze out mod support on Xbox One before the end of May, that had been the original plan, with PS4 coming in June.

“For console players, Mods will be coming to Xbox One in May and PlayStation 4 in June,” a previous message from the development team confirms.

“We have a lot to do yet, but we hope it changes console gaming the way it has changed PC.

“For Fallout 4, our goal was to make Mods easier and more accessible than ever before – for both the creators and the players. By building an all-new system with Bethesda.net we’ve made a huge leap forward in achieving that.”

Fallout 4 - Exploring Far Harbor

A new source has hinted that Bethesda could reveal plans to launch Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Xbox One and PS4.

Fans of Skyrim on PS3 and Xbox 360 have been waiting to hear more on if the popular RPG will be ported to the new generation of consoles.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard confirmed last year that they had successfully brought the game to Xbox One and PS4 as part of the development process for Fallout 4.

Howard also told fans not to get too excited, as it was just an exercise, "Don't get your hopes up yet,” He commented at the time.

There hasn’t been much mention of the potential project since, although a recent message on social media may hint at more.

Shinobi602 has proven themselves to be a reliable source when it comes to gaming info, they recently shared information on the Battlefield 1 announcement ahead of its official reveal.

His latest tweets may also prove to be something worth taking note of, writing: “Well, quite looking forward to Bethesda's conference E3.

When someone asked if it had anything to do with Skyrim arriving on PS4 and Xbox One, he added: “Isn't that a thought…”

It isn’t a well of knowledge but could prove the early indicator that Bethesda’s big “yet” comment last year is set to be confirmed later this year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops has been released on Xbox One via Backward Compatibility, and has proven a hit with fans.

A large number of second-hand copies have been sold, pushing the game past the 10,000 per cent mark in terms of sales on Amazon.

The number of players that can be found online is also impressive, the 2010 release has been reaching over 80K at peak times.

A recent report by Digital Foundry looked at if the title deserved the amount of interest it was receiving.

Earlier Backward Compatible titles had run into technical issues, Halo Reach took several weeks to be sorted out.

However, Digital Foundry has found that the Xbox One can at times run Black Ops better than the original.

There are fewer frame rate drops found on less action-heavy moments, according to the report, even on the more hectic scenes the two versions compare evenly.
