US fans have already been treated to the first episode of The X Files reboot, but we have to wait a little longer.

The new series comes to Channel 5 in early February, and the latest teaser clip shows the heroes Mulder and Scully are reunited.

There are plenty of meaningful looks packed into 44 seconds.

There’s also some ominous mood music, which suggests we’re in for a series with the same creepy-but-cheesy vibe as earlier shows.

The first reviews of the premiere episode aren’t promising, though.

The Radio Times warns that gloopy aliens and the famous Monster Of The Week plotline have been done away with in favour of sleeker, creepier storylines, featuring a government conspiracy – potentially the same one that brought Mulder and Scully together in the original series – that isn’t very well explained.

The preview clip leaves us guessing what’s brought the agents back together, and what they’ve been doing in the meantime. Scully tells Mulder she’s been ‘worried about him’, but he assures her he’s been taking care of himself.

So far, reviews have been spoiler-free, so we’ll have to wait for the first episode to air to find out what’s going on – and if it’s any good.
