Blue Hawks hold off Hanover

EXETER — David Fitzgerald scored three goals with an assist and the Exeter High School boys lacrosse team held off Hanover at rainy William Ball Stadium, 10-6, on Monday to improve to 8-2 in Division I

Senior Jack Carr added a goal and four assists for the Hawks, who moved into third in the league standings. Sean Penna scored two goals and Exeter got other points from Mike Penna (goal, assist), Zach Kelley (goal, assist) and Rob Fitzgerald (goal). Exeter goalie Cam Eddy made five saves. The Blue Hawks travel to Manchester Central on Thursday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Merrimack Valley 11, Spaulding 10

PENACOOK — The Red Raider dropped to 0-6 in Division II following Monday's tight loss.

Olivia Lapolla led the Red Raiders with four goals, while cali Newton added three. Sadie Rhodes and Abby Turgeon also scored.

Spaulding hosts John Stark Wednesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

Gorham 5, Marshwood

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — The Hawks succumbed to Gorham during Monday's Class A south match indoors at Berwick Academy.

In singles, Sophie Towle, Renee Clavette and Maddy Letellier all fell.

Marshwood's double teams of Sacha Kiesman and Sydney Page, and Inga Carlton and Morgan Hasty also were defeated.

SOFTBALL

Portsmouth Christian 15, Farmington 2

DOVER —The Portsmouth Christian softball team defeated Farmington in six innings at PCA on Saturday.

Amelia Sheedy cleared the bases with a double in the sixth inning to secure the win, one of her two hits and five RBIs. Ashley Vining was the winning pitcher allowing two hits, with six strikeouts. Vining added two doubles, Dani Brashear had three hits and three runs scored and Cy Karnes had three hits and two doubles. Emily Brashear had a hit and scored two runs and Ashley O'Neil had a hit and scored. PCA (5-3) plays Moultonborough at home on Tuesday. Farmington is 0-7.
