Jesse Ventura: I’ll Run for President if Bernie Sanders Loses

The former governor of Minnesota likes Trump and Sanders, but says he will get in the race by June if Hillary wins the Democratic nomination.

MINNEAPOLIS — Jesse Ventura told The Daily Beast he will run for president if Bernie Sanders does not win the Democratic nomination.
Ventura was elected the governor of Minnesota as an independent in 1998 after serving as a Navy SEAL and professional wrestler. Ventura said his campaign was so successful at showing an outsider could be elected that Trump and Sanders are “ripping him off.” He bets he can do it again if Sanders loses and the election is Hillary Clinton vs. Trump.

“They’re setting the groundwork for me because if Bernie loses, by the time we get to June, how sick are the people going to be of all these people,” he said while dressed in a Jimi Hendrix shirt under a blazer and SEALs beanie.

Does this make good sense?

Can Ventura get in the race, raise enough money, and if he did, can he really win or just be a spoiler.

I wonder if JV will just be another talking pundit...all talk and no action politician....I don't see JV ever running for President...he may be a good commander and chief for military, but has no clue about every other topic the President needs to address to the US citizens.

Funny. He could have come here and posted that himself.

Why wasn't he running right alongside him? The candidates will be known by this time tomorrow. No one not already in the race can just 'jump in' and run away with it after tonight.

Would he be known as the feathered scarf president?
I'll pass.

Side note...watching the Democratic debate is like watching a pie eating contest between two people...it is sloppy, it is messy, and at least one person in the contest is gaining some weight from the looks of it.

Adding another fruit in the mix won't help the party one bit...except more pies to be eaten and nothing honest delivered to the voters...the DP are done in this election to the GOP. Sorry to say that is how it is looking more and more. Pie Eating Demos vs Boxing Ring GOP

Trump-Ventura Ticket ?
I think Jesse may be trying to jump on the bandwagon , he has brought up the possibility before.

The former governor of Minnesota said he’d seriously consider being Trump’s running mate.

I'm gonna be that guy right now...

If Bernie loses, how by the glorious locks of Merlin's beard does Ventura hope to win?

He hopes to win like this...

But if you ask me..both BS and JV look alike so I am sure they will probably end up the same way if they ran against each other...both last to HC

Right. Clearly, right. JV is nothing more now than about pushing his brand. That's all. He waded into the murky waters of conspiracy theory and got lost, he just doesn't know it.

This could be awesome. Strip Jesse and Trump to the waist and let them fight like men and make it winner takes all! I'd pay to see that!

Huh. I would have sworn that Jesse ran under the Reform Party... color me embarrassed!

So Bloomberg, now Ventura... is Romney next? I'm going to assume that these folks threatening to run if so-and-so does or does not get the nomination genuinely feel that they and only they have what it takes to get the job done -- and get it done right.

But it seems to me that if these folks were really all that committed to changing the status quo, they would be jumping on the Gary Johnson bandwagon -- probably the best chance for a third party candidate to win. And Gary's no slouch. He has a very respectable reputation as a Republican Governor of New Mexico, as well as a very respectable socially liberal record as the CEO of a medical cannabis company. No candidate is ever perfect, but it seems that Gary Johnson could easily attract supporters from both sides of the aisle and all political persuasions.

All of which makes me wonder (wish?) if that is the real problem? Is it really Gary Johnson that has to be stopped at all costs?

Does it really matter?

When we have reached the point that this lot is the best that Americans has to choose from to select as the POTUS, than I think we have reached the bottom and the barrel. We can all just throw in the towel and head for the hills.

I heard it said somewhere that Obama was going to be the last president of the United States. Well he just skirted by, by barely a whisker. Any from this lot will be jokers at best and puppets at the worst.

"WHAT AN EXCITING GAME CHANGER THIS WOULD BE!!!"... said absolutely no one.

I welcome the bloviating doddering goose into the race. He'll almost certainly siphon votes from Hillary, as pretty much everything he stands for is anathema to Conservative values and ideals.

JV's time has passed. He does not have the popularity nor the positive image he used to have. Most people I know were done with him after he continued to sue the sniper guy's widow.

Just wanted to add to this thread that Marco Rubio just said at a campaign rally in Minnesota, the following about Jessie Ventura:

"How did that work out?"

and that Jessie Ventura was "an embarrassment. Let me rephrase that, 'is an emabarassment'."

His record as Governor would be more than enough to spell his doom in a POTUS race. He entered Minnesota with a $4 Billion surplus, 4 years later he left them with a $4.5 Billion deficit. Nobody even needs to focus on the pathetic, chickensnip lawsuit against Chris Kyle's estate.
