According to Pinterest, in France, girls are all about the under brow — aka floating brows. So, WTF is an under/floating brow? Think of it as a modern-day way to wear liner like Twiggy did in the '60s.

Makeup artist Alexander James explains it best: "We live in the age of Instagram that's oversaturated with makeup looks and ideas, but the under brow is a fresh, underexplored area," he said. And people are just now experimenting with the look. "I think it's such a unique look, especially because your brows are the feature that give the face the most expression and character, so when you play up them up or play with color near them, you create a specific, personality driven look."

Not only has the under brow made appearances on the runway — on Gigi Hadid at the fall 2016 Giambatista Valli show — the trend has become more mainstream, resulting in people accentuating underneath their brows to highlight their arches or tracing their creases with liners of all different shapes and colors.

So, how do you wear it and actually pull it off? Choose any color or texture you'd like, pick up brow stencils at your local beauty store, and then use them as a guideline to fill in a brow shape below your actual brows, or freehand it by tracing underneath your eyebrow.

James recommends pairing the bold look with perfected skin, mascara, and a clear balm if you want your eyes to be the main focus. But if you want to balance out your dramatic brow, swipe on a bold lip color. Either way, the goal is to have fun with your makeup look, while looking chic AF, like the French.

Carly Cardellino was the beauty director at Cosmopolitan. If you follow her Instagram, then you know she'll try just about any beauty trend or treatment once (the pics of her purple hair are on IG to prove it). But her favorite part about being in beauty is finding the most effective products, and then sharing that intel with others—because who wants to spend money on stuff that doesn't work? No one, that's who. Her most recent discovery: De La Cruz Sulfur Ointment, which will change your blemish-clearing game! Hopefully through the beauty stories she writes—and the experiences she shares—you can see exactly why she's in this business.
