Learning to adapt isn’t easy, especially after finding out she has an older brother she never knew about. All Chloe wants to do is get through the year in one piece. Except things get even harder when her new friend’s older brother, Kyle Briggs, keeps ruining all her well laid plans. It’s a love/hate relationship. TITLE: Deciding Love
AUTHOR: Janelle Stalder
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: April 5th, 2016

MY RATING
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

When I saw the sign up form zipping around Facebook I couldn't wait to get my greedy little hands on it, I'm a sucker for "falling for my best friends brother" one of my most one click obsessions of late..This will be my first time reading anything by this author so I'm keen to see what shes going to throw at me.

Good girl Chloe and the bad boy Kyle living on the wrong side of the tracks.

DECIDING LOVE Is spoken in Dual POV (Kyle & Chloe)
Chloe Morgan is the new girl in town, starting her Senior year in a new school seems daunting, but she's up for the challenge, her first day she befriends a girl named Cat, with the very hot brother Ky (Kyle).

Image and video hosting by TinyPic "One day you're going to meet a girl who knocks you off your feet, and you won't know what you're doing any more. Suddenly your commitment phobias are going to come around and bite you in the ass!"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Kyle struggles to fight his attraction for Chloe but at the same time if he can't have her he makes sure no other male can either.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Having a bit of fun and staying unattached seemed like a lot smarter way of dealing with girls than losing my heart and soul to one.

Kyle wasn't so much of a bad boy from the wrong side of the track, where he lived wasn't by choice but circumstance, he didn't want to love like his father loved his mother only to be faced with an unknown future due to illness.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic You should stick with the good boys. Guys like Briggs only leave broken hearts behind.

Not only could I not date her because she was Colt’s sister, and Cat’s friend, but I wouldn’t be able to give her a real relationship. My head was so messed up, I was no good for anyone, especially not someone like Chloe.

MY THOUGHTS
If you're looking for a YA book filled with all those feels, the angst, the heartbreak, the emotional pull on your heartstrings then look no further than this book, that saying if you love something set it free if it comes back it's mean't to be very much rings true in this book of second chance romance..

Definitely once release spins around I'd urge you to one click, this had me glued to my ipad until that very last page was read, the only thing for me is that I wanted/craved more..

That was amazing. I knew the book sounded good when I first read the blurb but I wasn't prepared for utter perfection.

I was pulled in from page one and couldn't put it down. Not only couldn't I put it down, but it felt like I was highlighting the whole book because it was so awesome.

I loved the chemistry between Kyle and Chloe. The way he fought his want and desire for her because he was convinced he wasn't good for her had me wanting to hug him. And when their eyes would meet, sparks would fly. I loved the dance they did, the will-they-or-won't-they. I can't remember the last time I loved a couple this much.

I also loved Chloe's brother. I wish there had been a little more of him in this book, more time they spent together, but I just discovered that he has his own book, so I can't wait to read it.

Even as I sit and write this, I'm not sure what to say about the awesomeness that was this book. I loved the friendships, the way Kyle was protective of Chloe, even before they got together and as awful as the scene was, I loved the moment Kyle decided Chloe was his. (and don't get me started on his alpha revenge...*swoon*)

Overall, this book was beyond awesome and it deserves many more than 5 stars!

“(…)If this girl means something to you, you need to hold onto her and do whatever you can to make it work. And when things get tough, you just work harder. It’s not always going to be easy, but it’s not supposed to.“

Deciding Love is kind of a book that I just needed after reading some really depressing love stories that didn’t work at all in the end. This one is an easy, fast and heartwarming, though full of clichés romance. There is the dark and mysterious Kyle and the sweet and kind girl from next door Chloe. What really fascinated me is the fact that the author knows how to work with those clichés. You know from their very first look at each other that they are made for each other – and you believe it. You FEEL it.

The storyline itself isn’t the newest, but this one is a character driven story. At the first glimpse, the characters are stereotypes, but Stalder has a very special way to play with this that I really loved. Their relationship and emotions are rich and complex and she just catched me from head to feet. Her writing style is very clever, she always seems to use the right words to make the reader feel what the characters feel. Especially the crackling and tension between them got so clear that I felt like I am part of this. And I guess, this is what a good love story is supposed to.

Though, at some points it got weaker. Jax, for example, clearly not the right guy for Chloe, just bored me to hell. He’s too much the wrong one that I didn’t had sympathy with him at all and I wished the part with him was shorter, or that character a bit more complex to even have the chance to accept him as a rival for Kyle.
What I didn’t like neither was the point after she got together with Kyle. Of course this has to happen but I think, this is always the most critical point for love stories – it often feels like, okay, they made it, fine, can I stop reading now? And I had trouble to go on, because I didn’t really saw the reason why. It’s kind of an end. But fortunately, Stalder wasn’t going this fluffy romance way for very long, so I got back in very fast. The only thing annoying was that their good relationship-time was all about sex. Kyle always wants to feel her and in the end I wasn’t quite sure if he’s really the right one or just attracted to her physically. This was a bit too much from this point on.

The other characters didn't have that much space, but I loved all of them, especially Cat, Chloe's best friend and Kyle's sister. My favorite scene, and this might be surprising because he really doesn't appear often, is the one when Kyle talks to his father. With respect to the morality aspect, his father seems to be the strongest person and I also loved the relationship with his wife for that reason. It's just sincerely and true love.

I would recommend this for readers that are looking for an easy and fast to read romance book and that aren’t afraid to being confronted with stereotypes, but want a love story that drags them in and makes them stuck there until the very last hill is climbed.
4 of 5 stars, because I really enjoyed this one except for some little points in the story.

Janelle Stalter’s young adult romance Deciding Love is an enjoyable story. Chloe Morgan’s uncomplicated life changes when she and her parents move for her senior year—new city, new school, new half brother and new friends.

During her first day at school she meets her new best friend, Cat Briggs. Accepting a ride home she also meets Cat’s older brother Kyle. The connection is immediate. The novel is told via Chloe and Kyle’s points of view. This gives depth and a clear understanding of Chloe and Kyle—their hopes and fears. Their friendship is complicated since Kyle is Chloe’s half brother’s friend. Kyle does not have a stellar reputation with women. His love them and leave them history is well known. But is his relationship with Chloe different? Chloe is a grounded and determined person who continually chooses to do the right thing. Deciding Love is character driven. The secondary characters add insight into this touching story as well. The title is perfect for this quick read.

Deciding Love Review on K-Books

When I heard about Deciding Love I genuinelly could not wait to get my hands on this book. I am a massive fan of Janelle Stalder and I have loved every single book that she has wrote so I knew this would be one that I would love. It definitely didn't disappoint.

Deciding Love is the story of Chloe, new girl in town and when she meets Kyle she falls head over heels for him. The problem? Kyle seems to want nothing to do with her. The reality is that Chloe is Kyle's best friends little sister and completely untoouchable. But the more they are pushed together in situations the more that they fall for each other. Can their relationship stand the test of time when everything seems to be against them?

I never thought anybody would take Colt's place in my heart but I completely fell head over heels in love with Kyle. Kyle is just the perfect guy. He is tattooed, rough around the edges but has a heart of gold. I absolutely adored him. Although Deciding Love can be read without reading the previous two books I would completely recommend reading the others as then you get more of a back story for our characters as well as seeing what the characters you have already fallen in love with are getting up to.

Deciding Love was without a doubt one of the best NA Contemporary Romance books I have read. Janelle's writing style is so addictive that as soon as you start it make sure your day is clear because you will not want to put this down until you have devoured the entire thing. I loved every single moment of it and weeks after finishing it I am still thinking about these characters and this story.

Deciding Love is filled with romance, smexy times and heartbreak. It made me laugh, cry and swoon. It is without a doubt a must read. I fell head over heels in love with it and I couldn't put it down until I had devoured the entire thing. If you're looking for a book that will steal your heart and take your breath away look no further because Deciding Love will do all of that and more. Utterly perfect!

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this book. Chloe starts senior year at a new school, she meets Kyle (who is one of her half-brother's best friends) and there is an immediate connection. Kyle was an alpha character in denial of his feelings. Loved Chloe's best friend Cat - it would be good to know her story. There was not much interaction between Chloe and her brother - would have been nice to explore that relationship a bit more as it was new.

Enjoyable read, low on angst with a HEA.

My anticipation in the beginning of this book was high. I felt myself preparing for a great read. As much as I liked Chloe & Kyle ...the story for me lacked angst & grit. It was sweet but too easy. About 50% in I was able to put it down & never really feel pulled to pick it back up.

a good teen angsty type vibe in this book. Not at all unrealistic, it does have issues that kids go through with their love. It does end kind of abruptly, tied in a nice bow. I kind of wish it had gone a little longer to maybe tie it up a different way. Over all, not bummed about it, it was overall a good book. Told in dual pov.

4 "don't know if I'll be able to let you go now that I have you" Stars!!

Let me start by saying that I am a sucker for love/hate, forbidden love stories. The synopsis immediately intrigued me and was thrilled that I got to review this book!

description

The best thing about this book was the sexual tension...

description

Multiple times I felt like I was going to combust in the best way possible. The story flowed well and was an easy read but the sexual tension between Chloe and Kyle drove me to binge on this book in one night, one sitting, burning the midnight oil till the wee hours of the morning!

description

I really liked Chloe. She was a sweet natured, nice girl. All her actions were true to her character which I love because I was never frustrated about why she was or was not doing something. It felt very natural for all the characters actually. Kyle is kind of an asshole but damn if he's not a hot asshole with sweet streak. He is irresistible and impossible not to love. The supporting characters were very entertaining, especially Cat (the bestie). This is the first book of the series I have read and had no issues with missing information. I am very interested in reading Colt and Olivia's story!

So if I loved the book so much why is it only a 4 star? It's more of a personal preference but here is why...

All and all this was a book that sucked me in and I loved reading!

This was absolutely Superb! I was immediately drawn to it when I first read the blurb, it sounded like forbidden romance and I just unconditionally love them so obviously I needed it in my life!

It didn't start of slow which I liked we were hit with a billion things all at once and I certainly enjoyed everything it was just so great!!

I was hooked from page one and only rarely, and reluctantly, put it down, because of my wailing child one year old, there are so many parts of the book that I just absolutely devoured, Janelle is truly a gifted writer. I loved the chemistry between Kyle and Chloe. The way he fought his want and desire for her because he was compelled, by himself, to think he wasn't good for Chloe and I wanted to hug and shake him for this! When their eyes would meet, sparks would fly and my heart would melt. The had a really strong and powerful connection from the beginning, i loved the way Janelle did it, it wasn't annoying, I really liked Chloe's brother. I wish there had been a little more of home in this book, more time they spent together, but I just discovered that he has his own book, so I can't wait to read it.Even as I sit and write this, I'm not sure what to say about the awesomeness that was this book. I loved the friendships, the way Kyle was protective of Chloe, even before they got together and as awful as the scene was, I loved the moment Kyle knew Chloe was his. Cat was an amazing Sister and Bestfriend, she totally shipped Chloe and Kyle from the beginning!

Overall, this book was thrilling and deserved 5 stars!

P.S Rannon was amazing, I loved the convos he had with Chloe and Cat and how he called them Sisters! Omg he was amazing!

I hadn't read the 'blurb' when i chose to read this book, and i am glad i didn't because i normally don't read 'i fell in love with my brothers friend ' story-lines. Why? I find them too cliche, brother threatens friend, then see each other anyway and when big brother finds out and huge row ensues. Its not like that at all.

The book is written in dual POV so there isn't a rehash of the same scene you just read in the last chapter so that is done really well.
This is my first book by this author but apparently there is another book which covers her brother Cole and Olivia which came out first and explains the whole back story to the family dynamic. But i didn't feel i missed out reading this book first but i will go back to read Brush Strokes next.

The writing is really good, its funny at times and it deals with some emotional issues and these are covered really well. I don't like cheating and although Kyle likes Chloe he isn't involved with her while he is 'seeing' other people. I liked the way once they got together Kyle doesn't want to hide it not even from Chloe's big brother who is also Kyle's friend. And when the inevitable happens and they get hurt they don't broadcast it and involve all their family in their issues.

Kyle is lovable, its just he has issues but Chloe is also strong when she needs to be.

It has a HEA and i imagine as the series goes on it will mention these characters in other books.( i am hoping).

Good read, clever writing and touches of humor. Well Done.

I received this book as an ARC for a honest review.

I liked this book it was an easy read even though it could have been edited it a little better.
This story was a typical love story. Its basically about Chloe a new girl in town who doesn't fit in but everyone seems to be attracted to. She becomes friends with Cat and eventually meets her brother Kyle and instantly they both have an attraction to each other. Like literally it seems that all they can do is stare at each other when they are even in the same room together. It was an ok build up to their relationship. Then we have the climax you know the big drama that just has to happen because it inevitable I assume. They break up. A small patch of time passes and then they both realize how in love they are with each other and get back together.

Oh yea Kyle also happens to be one of Chloe's brother's best friend. Chloe didn't have to much interaction with Colt (her half brother) so I don't really have to much of an opinion on him. I do feel like he should have been way more pissed about the incident between Chloe and Jax. I mean they described it I guess but I didn't really feel it. Also one character I enjoyed was Rannon that guy was hilarious to me. This is all I really have to say I'm sorry if my review seems a little dry but the book was very predictable. No twists at all. I would recommend this book if you're looking for an easy read but if want something a little bit more exciting you won't get that from reading this.

* * ARC given on behalf of obsessed by books for an honest review * *

There is nothing better than a brothers best friend romance and Janelle did not disappoint. Chole is up rooted and moved to another state due to her father's job so she's starting over, new school, new friends and new brother, an older step brother. Her relationship with her brother is great, she net a friend, so her first day at school is great til she sees him Kyle and she's frozen. Just when things where starting to go great she had to go and get feelings for her brother's best friend who happens to not do relationships.
Kyle is going to college, plus working and looking out for he's sister ,so when he goes to pick her up from hs he's chin hits the ground when he's stuck taking home the most beautiful girl he's ever seen, but there are problems.....
1) she he's best friend sister
2)she's his sisters friend
3)He doesn't do love
but he can't help but fall for her but he can't go through the pain he's seen his dad go through losing a love one , so he pushes but can they last, will they survive? I absolutely loved this book.

Received this book in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book, I could not put it down, read it in one day.

Chloe is the new girl in her senior year of school, she is so used to being invisible but on her first day of school Cat befriends her. Cat offers to give her a ride home which she meets Cats brother Kyle. One look in each others eyes and everything changes.

Chloe and Kyle have such a strong connection from the beginning. They both have feelings for each other but they are both afraid to admit those feelings. When it finally becomes to much they give in and begin a strong relationship. They are a really cute couple together.

I loved Kyle, he was an amazing book boyfriend. Even though he didn't have experience in a committed relationship because they scare him he was still perfect.

I really liked all the secondary characters in the book as well. This is the first book that I have read by Janelle and am excited to go back and read the first two books in this series and more books in the future. I would recommend this book.

This is a great book! It has the forbidden romance aspect to it. Kyle falling for the younger sister of one of his best friends was a dangerous thing to do. He definitely qualified for knight in shining armor material. I wish I had an older brother with a friend like him! The resistance shown between Kyle and Chloe was hot. They definitely did not have a perfect romance. There was plenty of drama with stupid decisions, which I absolutely love! The sex was good and steamy. I wouldn’t have minded more scenes. Some just faded out, which was a bummer. Overall, it’s definitely worth reading and I plan on reading more books in this series!

Spolier:

I thought Kyle and Chloe came out of the forbidden romance closet a little too soon. They finally admitted their feelings to one another, and then immediately went public with their relationship. I wanted them to keep their relationship hidden for a little while longer. That’s what brought the rating down a star.

I, like many, am a sucker for best friends brother and brother’s best friend stories. Chloe had an instant connection to Kyle. The first think that came to mind was Twilight. I thought to myself, “oh they just imprinted on each other”. Their relationship felt insta-lovey and I felt things moved very quickly between them. I did like Cat, but felt like I didn’t really get to know anything about any of the characters. I’d say this is your run of the mill boy likes girl. Boy thinks he’s not good enough. Girl gets with other boy. Something happens that pushed her to original boy. All is fine and dandy until said boy effs up driving a wedge between them, but it all works out in the end. Kyle didn’t make me swoon like some characters you just fall in love with. Overall, I didn’t hate it, especially considering I finished it in a few hours. I’d rate it 2 and a half stars.

Chloe and Kyle were both easily likable characters and I think that's what made this read a lot more enjoyable. I really thought it would be a typical "forbidden love" type of story. Chloe recently discovered she has a step brother Colt she never knew about and that's where Kyle comes in (also her best friend Cat) and I assumed that Colt and Kyle would make this big scene and Chloe would have to chose or something and I'm just so so happy it was NOT like that. Kyle was swoon worthy (even though he got me SO mad in a certain part of the book) but not in the cliche way you see mostly and Chloe has her own voice she's smart and likable. It took a struggle and even some time apart for it to be all good again but I just love how it depicted that it's not always rainbows and sunshine. Good read I liked it!

Oh, my!!! What can I not say? I just got this book yesterday (4th April). I had it downloaded all of 20 minutes before I got started and then I could not stop. I was consumed by the words on the page and the character depth, passion, infusion. I was drawn in and just could not get out.

Chloe had a lot on her plate. Her senior year. A new school. A new brother. A new friend. And a love/hate relationship with her new friend's older brother. Where do I take you know. Kyle lights a girls fire and then some.

Not one to give up the goods. You just have to get it and read it this is a hot read with more than you may be able to handle.

This was quite an intense ride I’ll tell you that much. The sexual tension between Chloe and Kyle was absolutely insane and unlike anything I have read in a while. I mean that in the best way possible.

Was this a cliche of new girl falling in love with her best friend’s brother? I wouldn’t call it that. Like I previously stated this book has got a unique factor; the build up of the story and how it plays out.

I hate how much I love you would be quite an appropriate phrase to describe their relationship at a lot of points along the way.

An absolute recommendation if you want a book that is amazingly written with a special twist on a known story line.

Wow! This story is so great! I really liked Chloe and how sweet and caring she is. She is a shy girl and she wants to keep mostly to herself since she had been picked on at her previous school. She has an immediate friendship with Cat and when Chloe meets her older brother Kyle.... all bets are off. Kyle is a bit cocky but that connection he feels is intense. I loved the ups and downs. There is pain and the emotions hit me hard, which had me loving their story even more. This is a must read!

I like high school romances and for the first half of the book I totally engaged with Kyle and Chloe. But I found things dropped off a bit and Chloe's character was disappointing, we knew she was beautiful and sweet, but there were no actions or dialogue with her which really pointed to why she was so sweet, and it was a shame her relationship with her brother wasn't worked into the story. And probably needed more reference to the other characters, Gage etc, because had no idea who they were. Overall an easy, engaging read.

Really an enjoyable story about fighting attraction towards their best friend's sibling but unable to and falling. Only to be hurt with lies because the man is afraid of commitment because of the way his parents are with his mother's MS illness and the fight and loss and fight his father is facing everyday. Be prepared because wit got my heart pumping and tears coming out in a few sections.

WOW! This book sucked me in from the first page. I loved the way Kyle tried to fight off from liking his friend's sister Chloe in the beginning. While Kyle and Chloe was fighting their feelings; I also enjoyed the other characters in the book. Especially Chloe's brother Colt (I am happy to find out this book is part of a series and you can read about Colt in Brush Strokes). While Deciding Love is filled with love there are some heartbreaking movements that made me shed a tear.

I loved the book as it has a somewhat forbidden romance aspect to it. Chloe recently moved to the town along with her family where her half brother Colt lives. Now enters Kyle who is Colt's best friend and is also the brother of Cat with whom Chloe connects instantly. The connection between Chloe and Kyle is intense.

Overall, loved the book!!!

There was a lack of development between Kyle and Chloe that is why I really didn't feel any connection. It didn't make me feel anything. And the crap Kyle pulled really pissed me off. It was so immature. I only enjoyed the post-breakup part of this book. Also, the reconciliation, reunion, and ending are sweet.
