SIX nights of motorway closures on the M6 between Junction 19 at Knutsford to J20 will begin tonight, Tuesday February 9.

As part of Highways England’s scheduled £14.5m repair works to the motorway, both carriages will be closed on separate days.

On Tuesday, February 9, Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 the M6 will be closed northbound between J19 and J20 from 11pm to 5am.

Following the northbound closure, there will be three nights of southbound closures from J20 and J19 on Friday, February 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 from 11pm to 5am.

During the closures there will be fully signed diversion routes in place.

For the southbound closure, traffic will be diverted off the M6 at J20a, travel along the M56 to Junction 7, leave the M56, travel to Bowden Roundabout, join the A556 and travel along the A556 to the M6, where traffic will re-join the M6.

For the northbound closure, traffic will be diverted along the A556 to junction 9 of the M56 before exiting the M56 to join either the A50 or the M6 at Junction 20
