Pebble beefs up its health tracking and messaging features

Owners of Pebble Time smartwatches are getting a couple extra treats on their wrists today, as the company is pushing firmware and app updates that add improved messaging functionality and health tracking on the watches. On the iPhone, Pebble users can now send custom replies to incoming messages, while Android owners can reply to incoming calls with a text, voice note, or emoji. Android users are also getting a new app that lets them initiate text conversations right from their wrists.

Pebble is also adding the ability for watchfaces to show Pebble Health data, such as step count and sleep tracking. The first watchface with Pebble Health data is available now, and there is an API for other developers to add it to their watchfaces. Pebble also says that its tracking is more accurate than before.

Other fixes and improvements include better performance on the Pebble Time and Time Steel, more descriptive icons for incoming MMS messages, and a better low-power mode. The updated iOS app, Android app, and watch firmware are available today.
