OktoberFest London cancelled: Event called off half an hour before doors open
Organisers said they couldn't cope with the massive crowds
London’s answer to Munich’s annual OktoberFest has been cancelled after organisers were unable to cope with the huge crowds that turned up for the event’s opening night.
Tobacco Dock London in Wapping made the announcement this morning, 20 minutes before the first session was due to begin at 12:00pm.
In a statement on Facebook the organisers initially said it would just be today’s afternoon session that was cancelled, before confirming the whole event was to be called off.
A poster on railings close to the event said: “Due to operational issues identified last night the decision has been made to cancel all further events at tobacco dock. Please contact your ticket agent for further details.”
Tickets for the event started at £10, however VIP tables went up to £1,000.
