I am going to be in/around Delhi for the week of Diwali (Nov. 10-Nov.16). I would love to experience this holiday to it's fullest. Any recommendations for events, festivals, venues, music/food/spiritual destinations to go to get the most out of the week?
I would be happy to travel to Jaipur or Agra if there are specific things I should see/experience!
You can visit Markets like Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Karol Bagh, Greater Kailash II, Sarojini Nagar, you will get lots of things to purchase during Diwali.
When you get time visit temples whichever is nearest to your location, every zone of Delhi have famous temples.
The whole city would have decorated with so many lights and in night the sky will be filled with crackers. And don't forget to taste different sweets during Diwali.

Though Diwali is celebrated in all over India, but in North India it is celebrated with greater enthusiasm.
If possible, visit Varanasi during the occasion of Diwali. People there, still celebrates it in the traditional way. Its not just about wearing new clothes and firing crackers.
Avoid Delhi, Air pollution reaches to alarming levels on the Diwali night.
Do the tour known as Golden Triangle which will include Delhi, Jaipur & Agra.
Try to be in Jaipur as the old city will be beautifully decorated. it will be a lifetime experience to see that decoration. Celebrate diwali with some local family.

You can try a local market tour and hands on cooking experience at Tastesutra in New Delhi.
Rather than spending it there, you can come to Jaipur for Diwali festival, Old city will be beautifully decorated and you can enjoy this festival with some family
