Today, Sony held a press event in New York to launch a healthy selection of new camera gear. We streamed the event live, taking you straight to the heart of the event for the full story. (The live stream might now be over, but you can give yourself a quick recap courtesy of our video archive.)

New products launched at the event included the Sony A6300 mirrorless camera, a followup to the incredibly popular Sony A6000, as well as a brand-new high-end lens lineup dubbed the G Master series. The latter will launch with three new lenses -- a 24-70mm f/2.8, 85mm f/1.4, and 70-200mm f/2.8 -- as well as both 1.4x and 2x teleconverters for the latter lens.

Want to see what was shown during our live stream? Watch the archived video below. Just want the nutshell overview? Highlights of the new product announcements can be found beneath the video!

And now without any further ado, let's move onto the products themselves!

      • 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor with copper wiring

      • 14-stops of dynamic range

      • 11 fps with autofocus between frames (but not with live view, only showing the last frame captured at any given moment)

    • Autofocus:

      • 0.05-second autofocus with 425 points

      • World's highest number of autofocus points covering entire image frame

      • High-density tracking autofocus technology activates large number of points surrounding the subject, tracks at 11 fps

      • Supports phase-detect AF with older lenses

    • Viewfinder:

      • XGA OLED TruFinder

      • "the advantages of electronic preview with the immediacy of an optical viewfinder"

      • "the A6300 truly connects you with the action like no other camera can"

    • Video capture:

      • 4K video capture in Super 35mm format with full-pixel readout, no pixel binning

  • New G Master lens series

    • "From the design stage, we have to take resolving power to a higher level"

    • "Supreme blend of high resolution and beautiful bokeh"

    • XA (Extreme Aspherical) lens elements, gives groundbreaking spatial spatial frequencies of 50 line pairs per mm, vs the 30 lp/mm that's common in the industry

    • XA elements with 0.01 micron surface precision eliminates abrupt defocusing transitions. (Probably also eliminates onion ring bokeh.)

    • Can bond two elements together also, to take XA to the next level

    • Also have advanced simulation tech, to make it possible to control bokeh right from the design stage

    • "Incredible resolution, not only in the center, but also in the corners"

    • Optimized for both still and video

    • Focus drive is silent, iris activation is silent, will also continuous AF very fast

    • Use different drive techniques on each lens

      • Direct Drive Supersonic Motor DDSM, silently moves heavy focus groups with 0.01mm precision.

      • Supersonic Motor (SSM) Dual Linear motor ring for front AF group, linear motor drives dual floating rear group, a first.
