City Electric Supply continued its family tradition in its 399th branch opening by placing a father-daughter team at the helm of the Mount Airy branch in North Carolina.

“It’s great. I love working with my dad,” said Brandy Mayes, stores manager. “I’ve always been a daddy’s girl.”

“Mount Airy is a great addition for us in this area. This is our 63rd location to open in North Carolina and after many months of renovation, it’s an exciting realization to open our doors for business here,” Senior Group Manager John Nantz said.

According to Branch Manager Dale Mayes, the staff did all the demoltion, construction, electrical and flooring, “Everything but the HVAC and the plumbing.”

By the time they opened the doors to the public, the staff had many months of blood, sweat and tears to help them gel, the kind of team-building that some companies pay to send their employees to.

“We’ve been through a lot,” Dale Mayes said, adding the experience helped foster a sense of ownership in all the employees.

“The other day Tom (Spraker) said, ‘you know, our fingerprint is here,’” Dale Mayes said. “It is.”

The Mount Airy team combined shares more than 100 years of experience including to licensed electricians.

Mayes holds over 25 years experience in the industry and will manage the branch with his daughter, Brandy. Altogether, this team holds about 130 years of electrical industry knowledge.

“We’re here,” Dale Mayes said. “Meet the professionals.”
