Awkward Mums And Piggy Chums: 5 Ads You Should Watch Right Now

Snowboarding in the clouds and organ donations (thankfully not together). That’s right, it’s just another week in AdLand!

After a week watching the best (and worst) video advertisements on the net, we’ve picked the five essential ones to watch so you can spend the rest of your time enjoying the weekend.

So without further ado, here is our weekly round-up of the five ads you should watch right now.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

5. Irn-Bru – Get a Grip

There are some incidents in life you just can’t un-see. For those moments, Scottish soft drink Irn-Bru reckons it can hep you get through.

Like this fairly awkward one…

4. Vodafone New Zealand – Piggy Sue

Vodafone New Zealand’s sweet story about friends Keith the Kiwi and Peggy the pig staying connected had us all smiling.

Usually we’d argue that nothing beats bacon, ever, but little Piggy Sue has captured our hearts, so we might just stay away from it this weekend.

3. Happy Socks – Snowboarding in the Clouds

Ever dreamed of a fluffy adventure in the clouds?

We have too, but then someone rudely ruined it when they told us it’s basically freezing up there. Cheers for that.

Happy Socks have saved the day with a “never mind the cold, to the clouds we go!” attitude, wrapping up a snowboarder and sending him to play in the sky.

Get ready for some serotonin-inducing tunes and amazing views.

Fabulous.

2. Fundacion Argentina de Transplante Hepatico

Are you ready to feel emotional? Well, we’ve warned you.

DDB Worldwide has created a tear-jerking PSA for the Argentina Foundation for Liver Transplants to highlight the importance of organ donations.

In the poignant ad, we see a faithful dog holding vigil for his elderly master, who has become gravely ill only to be united with a women who has been saved by the man’s act of kindness.

Now, where do we sign up (and who the hell has been cutting onions)?

1. Castrol EDGE USA – Titanium Strong Virtual Drift

Castrol has taken advertising to another (rather apocalyptic) dimension with its latest stunt.

In a bid to promote its Titanium Strong motor oil, the automotive lubricant company stuck a specially designed Oculus Rift VR helmet on US Formula Drift driver Matt Powers (what a name) and set him loose to blindly burn some rubber.

In what should be only be renamed as Oculus Drift, Powers rips a real Roush Mustang around a racetrack, only aware of the crumbling virtual landscape shown on the headset.

Kids, do NOT try this at home.
