Where to Have Thanksgiving Dinner Around the World

One of the hardest parts about being an American expat abroad is finding a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. Luckily, many embassies host Thanksgiving dinners or events, and several hotels and restaurants cater to homesick (and hungry) Americans. Here’s a guide to finding a roast turkey near you.

Singapore

For the second year in a row, on Thursday, November 23, Employees Only executive chef Julia Jaksic will offer a menu of roasted butternut squash, shaved Brussels sprouts salad, and a traditional turkey plate with spiced pork stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberry relish. For dessert, expect pumpkin pie with rum whipped cream. It’s all served à la carte, or as a prix fixe for $110 SGD ($81), including one cocktail.

Rome

On Thursday, November 23, at the newly renovated Hotel Eden’s Il Giardino Ristorante & Bar, executive chef Fabio Ciervo will serve seasonal delicacies such as turkey breast stuffed with brandy-flavored prunes and roasted root vegetables for €80 ($93), excluding drinks.

Thanksgiving gets an Italian twist at Hassler Roma, the five-star hotel located near the Spanish Steps. Served on Thursday evening at Salone Eva, the menu will include the likes of pumpkin lasagna and a selection of Italian cakes (plus turkey and veggies, of course) for €80 ($93), excluding drinks.

London

Wolfgang Puck gets in on the turkey action at CUT at 45 Park Lane, where the four-and-a-half hour feast on Thursday will include favorites such as roasted squash soup, turkey with mushroom stuffing and pecan pie for dessert for £110 ($145).

Meanwhile chef James Durrant of The Stafford London London’s The Game Bird, which opened in March, will offer a three-course menu starting at £40 ($53) featuring spiced pumpkin soup, roast turkey with all the trimmings—including the classic green bean casserole—and more, plus pecan pie served with bourbon cream.

Paris

Act fast if you want to be a part of an unforgettable feast at Verjus, the small, but charming American-owned restaurant near the Palais Royale. Starting Monday, November 20 through Friday, November 24, they’ll host two nightly seatings of a Thanksgiving-inspired tasting menu featuring the likes of wild mushrooms and chestnut stuffing for €68 ($79), including a wine pairing.

On Thursday, at the recently-opened Le Drugstore over on the Champs-Elysées, chef Eric Frechon will offer diners an exclusive menu of corn fritters, squash soup, farm turkey and pecan pie for €70 ($82), excluding drinks.
