Harper's Launches Metered Paywall

A slight change in policy.

Notoriously anti-web Harper’s is easing things up a bit. And we stress “a bit.” Harper’s is introducing a metered paywall, which will allow readers the chance to read one print article per month on Harpers.org. After that, readers will be prompted to pay up.

“We remain committed to the principle that high-quality journalism requires an audience willing to pay for it,” said Harper’s president and publisher John MacArthur, in an announcement. “But the metered paywall offers us a more efficient way to allow potential subscribers to get acquainted with the magazine.”
