The Halfling’s Court is the first book in the Bad *** Faerie series by Danielle Ackley-McPhail. I love that it melds the fae with MC…. motorcycles, and an original take on ‘The Wild Hunt’- magic, fantasy, mayhem, drama, complex characters, and all the extra creative touches that I have come to expect from Ms. Ackley-McPhail’s stories.
I love that Ms. Ackley McPhail has such a wonderfully creative imagination, as her stories are nothing if not unique and original and this one is no exception.
I’m looking forward to seeing what she does next.

Thank you, Danielle Ackley-McPhail!

Very interesting dive into the mashup of the far world and MC universe. I really liked how the author set up the story. It immediately grabbed my attention and provided me with an emotional touch point that kept me wondering how it would play into the events that would unfold. I enjoy this author’s writing and her unique spin on some classic themes. Very enjoyable read.

Lance Cosain is half fae, his mother was fae and his father is human, they are not close, but they are still family, but Lance has other family, his MC family in the Wild Hunt of whom he is the Wind Walker, they are a group of Harley Davidson riding, leather wearing people, both human and fae alike and they live side by side in harmony with the local fae. The Dair na Scath is the High King of the Fae Realm in Underhill, he has been for a long time and he has a faithful and loyal court around him, but he has become corrupted by power and greed, so when some of his court betray him and leave, he cannot but be furious, however, when he is told that they are dead, he breaths a small sigh of relief, or at least he does for a time.

Lance is just trying to live his life with his lady and prepare for the Steel Horse Stampede, however, when his lady is late and nobody has heard from her, he knows something is wrong, so he does what he does best and goes to find her and see what has happened, however, when he gets there, it isn’t what he expected. The wind starts to blow up a storm followed by a column of darkness coalescing in the middle of the crossroads as a derisive voice throws insults and derisive comments towards Lance and his right hand man just before he reveals himself as a fae, but the most surprising thing is the team of redcaps who have someone in their grasp. Lance barely manages to control himself as he battles with the fae to leave his friend free to free the prisoner, however, although he injures the fae, Lance is brought down by the relentless attacks and his friend is suffering too, although what happens next nearly kills Lance, but allows him to push the fae back to his own realm.

When they have all recovered and have enough strength to return to their home, Lance has to have some difficult conversations, although he isn’t sure if he is getting all the information he needs, however, he has to make do, especially when he is told that more fae will come for him. It is when he is on his way home a few days later when he is attacked again, but this time by a gremlin which does more damage than he expects, however, again he manages to succeed in taming another opponent, but when he later receives a message from the High King of the Fae himself, Lance knows that he has to protect everything he loves now more than ever, but will he be able to defeat a full blood fae, or will his halfling limitations cause him to taste a defeat more painful than any other before? This is a fantastic blend of fantasy and MC romance which will have you on the edge of your seat throughout, as the action continues and the fae on opposite sides fight for both family and honour.

The Halfling's Court is a truly great story, and the characters and plot produced in the writing of Danielle Ackley-McPhail are remarkable. I loved reading this book because of love for all things fae and the motorcycle club angle. The loyalty of an MC goes beyond anything that I have ever encountered.

Lucas Cosain is a halfling. He is somewhat baffled by his roots as his family will not share with him the secrets of his origin. He knows that his mother was fae and his father is human, but his mother died in childbirth. His father, Cameron Cosain, is a human who left him with his aunt and uncle, seeming to care little about Lucas.

As the leader of the Wild Hunt MC, Lucas is grounded by his human side. He has nubs where his wings should have developed, but his human side keeps them at bay. That is until his old lady is taken captive by none other than a dark fae. During the scuffle to get her back, his ride hand, Gavin, a fae, took him away from death’s door which threatened to send him back to ashes.

With fae magic now whispering in his head, Lucas is an adversary for the high king of fae, Dair na Scath. The king has known about the halfling, but now wants Lucas destroyed and his MC obliterated. Who will come forth as the victor...Lucas or the high king of fae?

The Halfling's Court (A Bad-Ass Faerie Tale Book 1) by Danielle Ackley-McPhail is a great fantasy story

Put your badass hat on! The rumbling of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Black leather glints in the light. Polished chrome has a gleam to it. The unrestricted freedom of the wide road. As Lance Cosain, the halfling head of The Wild Hunt MC, defends his land and his people from attacks ordered by Dair na Scath, the high king of the fae, motorcycles collide with magic and mayhem. Lance just wants to settle down with his wife after fending off renegade fae, redcaps, and enraged road gremlins. Instead, he fights the high king's champion for an ancient blade and his right to the kingdom. Who will come out on top? Is it better to be king of the road or king of the realm? In either case, the hunt is on!

I loved this story and the concept of it as well.I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is the first book in the series and I can't wait to read more. I would love to continue the story.

The Halfling's Court: A Bad-A$$ Faerie Tale is book one in Danielle Ackley- McPhail is the first in her Bad-A$$ Faerie series. This is an interesting take on Faerie and Fae stories.

I've never imagined Faeires as big, motorcycle riding, MC leading burley men. Lance Cosain changes that aspect to the very core. No more are they these little Tinklebell fairies we have come to know. If you love motorcycles and the paranormal then this is a book for you.

Ackley- McPhail has created characters that will stick with you in this action packed fantasy she has created. This book is written in a Lance's perspective, so males should have no problem getting behind this protagonist.

This has been an enjoyable read. If I was to have anything bad to say it would be, it took me awhile to get used to her writing style. While there's nothing wrong with it, I did not enjoy it. That being said, I can't wait to read the next in this bad-a** series.

The Halflings Court By Danielle Ackley-McPhail sure is a Bad-Ass Faerie Book! It is my very first book by the author and I loved it. She is a very talented and descriptive writer who makes you feel like you are right there in the book every step of the way. Mixing Faerie and a motorcycle club is something I haven't seen anywhere else and it's such an awesome combination.

Lance is a Halfling and head of The Wild Hunt MC, after an attack on his lovely Susanne, he discovers there is so much more to himself and he suspects to his own family. He knows his aunt and uncle who have basically raised him after his mother died during child birth, are hiding something. Even his human father who he has a rather strained relationship with knows more then he is telling him. One thing he knows for sure is that trouble is coming and he is not backing down, he is going to kick arse!!

i truly hope this is just the first of many more Bad-Ass Faerie Tales.

This book is a Bad-Ass Faerie Tale features an intriguing mix of bikers and elves an exciting novel full of action and adventure that will change your mind about just how bad-ass faeries can be. A well thought out and crafted book of two worlds blended together to compel this amazing story.
The characters are immensely likable, and I found myself growing quite fond of them, Lance being an amazing biker that takes finding out so much of a world that he didn’t know anything about. One that he didn’t know and the one he was living in were he just wanted to settle down and be with his girl. With so many that he needed to protect, lance goes into this role and crushed it, making it very exciting to read.
This book is a fast=paced adventure produces a compelling story, that was a lot of fun to read. an entertaining twist on the two worlds together to see who would win, a page-turning tale and a must definite read.

Fae Bikers are pretty badass. Danielle Ackley-McPhail writes an action-packed fantasy from the guy’s point of view. Lance is the leader of this particular pack and someone is looking to start a fight. The details come as Lance learns them, though we do get a glimpse into the enemy’s world every now again.

Lance seems to have a lot of enemies within the same thread to the main one. No one seems to be able to withstand their own evil grudges (laugh). This works for and against Lance. There are secrets though - aren’t there always?

McPhail moves the story quickly and some action happens off screen. There is not a lot of description for a fantasy book. McPhail has a minimalist writing style. There is a sequel so it will be interesting to see where McPhail takes us as the story continues.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

The Halfling's Court: A Bad-Ass Faerie Tale (Bad-Ass Faeries)
by Danielle Ackley-McPhail

4 out of 5 stars

This is the first book by this author that I have read and it was great. The Halfling Court is a well-crafted and thought-out book. The Characters are well written I loved the way they played off of each other and their quirks.

If you like motorcycles and paranormal then you will love reading this book. We meet Lance Cosain, the halfling leader of The Wild Hunt MC, he protects his turf and his people from attacks ordered by Dair na Scath, the high king of the fae. With the help of his MC, they hold their own against rogue fae, redcaps, and the gremlins of the road. Why can’t Lance just settle down that’s all he wants just to settle and peace.
But instead, he goes toe-to-toe with the high king's champion over an ancient dagger and the claim to a throne. Who will win? Who would be the best king for the realm?
You need to read this story to find out…

The Halfling’s Court (A Bad Ass Faerie Tale Book 1)
By Danielle Ackley-McPhail
4 Stars

This is the first book that I have read from this author. She really impressed me. If Sarah J Maas and Manda Mellett ever collaborated on a book, this would be it. These two happen to be my favourite authors and for me to put this author up there with them, I tip my hat. Just the fact that Ms. Ackley-McPhail thought to meld the Fae and a motorcycle club shows how imaginative she is. Why didn’t anyone think of this before? I loved the book.

Lance is a halfling who runs a motorcycle club. He’s been kept in the dark about his Fae heritage. He just wants to settle down with the love of his life, Suzanne. When she gets attacked, his Fae powers emerge, causing him to get noticed by the Dair Na Scath, the Fae king. No good can come if that and a war commences. Only one Fae can rule, who will it be?

I really loved this book as it contains two of my favourite subjects and motorcycle club and fantasy. The author has for a unique theme for this book with the mix of danger with the MC club and the mystery and magic that surrounds the magical world.
The MC part of the story keeps the book placed into reality which gives the story a realistic feeling. You actually feel that it could happen.

Lance is a halfling. He is leader of his MC club and it is his job to protect his club and his people from threats. However some threats are worse than others and the when King of the fae comes after him Lance had a war on his hands he never anticipated.  Will Lance take his rightful place as the new king of the Fae? What happened to the ancient dagger? Will Lance's life be the same and can he protect his people?

The Halfling’s Court by Danielle Ackley-McPhail is the first book in the A Bad-Ass Faerie series. This is an interesting mix of Fae and MC genres, in a way that I don’t think I have seen done before. The author has taken the best elements in each and combined them into a great and exciting story. It is an action packed story the whole way through.
The author has created relatable and engaging characters inside a world that feels new. Each book this author seems to write is completely different from her last and you never know what you are going to get. For me this makes not just the books exciting but the author as well. I though this was a strong start to a new series and I am looking forward to the next book.

I love MC reads so I was excited to read this mixture of MC with Paranormal and I really enjoyed it.

Lance is the leader of the Wild Hunt MC. He is half human and fae but he knows little about his fae side. Things take a twist when his old lady is taken by someone from the fae side. Will he be able to protect his club and find his old lady?

Overall this was a good read. We get a look at both worlds during the read that is in Lance's POV. The author does a great job with her writing and pulls you right into her world. All of the characters added a great element to the story. This is my first read from this author and I look forward to reading more from her and the series. 1-click and get started today.

I enjoyed this story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. This is a well written story about a motorcycle club with a paranormal twist. The characters brought the story to life and are relatable. They pulled me into the story from the beginning. Lance is someone who just wants to spend life with his love but the king of the realm has something different in mind. Both are on a hunt for an ancient realm and a claim to the throne. What will happen between these two? I enjoyed all the characters and what they brought to the story. I highly recommend this book.

This is an interesting mash-up of faerie lore and motorcycle bad-assery. I was intrigued how that would play out in a novel. The mystical beings were described well, and were easy to imagine. I liked the development of Lance's powers as a halfling. There were parts of the story that got a bit mundane for me, and I would have liked a little more character development of the side characters. However, it was an interesting read, and the first I've read that delved deep into the motorcycle culture, so that was cool and different for me to learn about. If you like paranormal and motorcycle themes, give it a go!

Hold on we are going for a ride.

This the first book in the Bad-Ass Faerie Tale book series. This is a motorcycle story with some magical characters in the storyline. I went on a motorcycle ride through this story with the characters. There were twists and turns which made it an exciting ride. The characters are fully developed and complex in nature. All Lance wants to do is live with his love, but that is not so easy. He has some obstacles and is in a race to find an ancient realm to sit on the throne as the king. I highly recommend this story to take the journey with Lance and see if it was worth the journey.

Danielle Ackley-McPhail’s The Halfling's Court (A Bad-Ass Faerie Tale Book 1) is a Fae MC a modern urban fantasy tale. Where Sons of Anarchy meets Lord of The Rings. He is half human and half fae and this guy is a great leader of an MC. He is on a journey to reconcile with a past he knows nothing about. Danielle pulls out all the stops to give us a mixed-up cast of fun characters with secrets and lies, trials and tribulations, danger and perils, good vs evil along the way. I would have liked to see this as a full novel and more depth in the characters but having said that it is an engaging read. Hang on and enjoy the ride.

I give The Halfling's Court (A Bad-Ass Faerie Tale Book 1) by Danielle Ackley-McPhail, 4 stars.

This was quite an interesting book. I am used to seeing Motorcycle Club books in the hot romance category. It was refreshing to see that was not the case here. While they are enjoyable, I like that this book is so different. Throw in the Fae courts and fantasy characters, mix it with a motorcycle club of Fae and humans battling some corrupted creatures, and you have this book. It is full of honor and action. The characters are great, especially Lance. He has very endearing qualities and has to learn just what he is as the story goes on. The other characters are so good too, I really hope to learn more about them in future books. The action starts in the very beginning of the book and continues until the end. It is such a wonderfully woven tale of fantasy and action and I highly recommend it. I cannot wait to read the next book.

The Halfling’s Court is an amazing far story, personally I couldn’t put it down. Ms. Ackley-McPhail gives us everything that we could hope for including drama, fantasy, magic, mayhem and more. Her characters are so descriptive, and her scenery descriptions leave you breathless with the right imagination. Ms. Ackley McPhail certainly has a wild imagination that creates incredible stories for her readers. This will be my second series by Ms. Ackley-McPhail and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Danielle Ackley-McPhail has crafted an entertaining world where fae and humans mix. Her storytelling skills are obvious in characters like Lance who is both human and fae, who tried to find guidance in his father. There was also the hafling fae king who tried to hide his truth from the court. Ackley-McPhail weaves empathy into the plot so the reader feels compelled to keep reading another page and another. The story ends too quickly and the reader is left wanting more from Ackley-McPhail, wanting more time in the world she has created.

The Halfling’s Court had such an intriguing synopsis that I just had to pick it up. Danielle Ackley-McPhail is definitely going to be an author I follow in the future and go back and read previous work. The way she blended faerie and MC worlds was well done and had me captured from the beginning. I love stories with fairies and enjoy the MC novels I have read and so to put them together was generous of Danielle. So, if you enjoy either of these themes definitely try this one out!! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a mystical, fast paced read.

Different take on a book when you have Fae + MC = Very good story. Lucas is half fae half human character. When he grows up, he becomes part of the Wild Hunt MC. When Lucas finds that is girl is taken by the dark fae, nothing will stand in his way to rescue her. Will the dark fae win or will Lucas save his girl in time.....if you like stories with magic, action, fantasy along with MC Fae (which is new and very intriguing) this book is for you. Cannot wait to continue this series.

Lance Cosain knows he is a halfling, half-human half-fae is the leader of The Wild Hunt Motorcycle Club . Not knowing his origin , he clashes with few of the bad characters and also learn about his past. The book is quite engrossing and is filled with funny and cunning characters, and the illustrations add more to the charm. It is a very engaging book and is fully action packed.

Interesting

This is the first by this author. The overall story itself was an interesting take on fae myths. I love fae books but this one has an added MC element in it. It was a quick read. Lance is a halfling and embarks on a journey that forces him to face his past. This story is one that will leave you wondering what will happen next.

This book was so great. I loved it to pieces. What I especially loved was that the entire time I'm reading it, I'm going "zomg, this is totally Lord of the Rings meets Sons of Anarchy" AND THEN THE AUTHOR USED THE SAME THING IN EXPOSITION IN THE END. I died. It was very meta.

But for real, the story rang very true, but as a faerie story and for motorcycle club culture (what I know about it) and I really loved that she didn't do the patronizing "Here's a handy list of vocabulary words you've never seen before" thing that most authors do at the front of the book. She just used the slang as she wanted and it was up to the reader to figure it out through context clues. Though there was an appendix in the back (which is not the front, which does not interupt the flow of the story, you see) so that you could find out the real meaning of the word and find out if it was actually accepted slang and not something she just made up for the purposes of the book.

It's my understanding that Ackley-McPhail is herself an editor so I'm not sure if she had an editor for this book. There were a few minor typos in places and it's bound like a self-publication. This isn't a problem, actually I sortof like it, but it is interesting to note if the occasional dropped apostrophe offends you.

Lance Cosain knows he is a halfling, half-human half-fae, but does not know his true origins. He’s the leader of The Wild Hunt Motorcycle Club and he’s known as the Wind Walker. He’s going to come up against some nasty characters and he’ll need the help of his Four Winds and all members of The Wild Hunt MC to come out ahead. He will also be forced to face his true past and can only do so alone. Filled with funny and crafty characters, ‘The Halfling’s Court’ is a book you will become engrossed in easily.

‘The Halfling’s Court’ is a book with an interesting and diverse set of characters running through them. I absolutely loved the illustrations accompanying the story. This book reminded me a lot of ‘The SERRAted Edge’ series by Mercedes Lackey. ‘The Halfling’s Court’ is fun and engaging even with the perils and dangers of the road and Fae Court faced by Lance and his MC, and easily re-read many times.

As the book itself states: Sons of Anarchy meets Lord of The Rings. The fights and battles were well thought out to the point that I thought about them after. If you like bikers and fairies you will love this book. I think I wanted the characters to be a bit more complex. Lance is a hot biker with daddy issues and a good leader, but sometimes I didn't get how he got there. There was a lot of telling of emotions when I wanted showing. Having said that I really liked the use of the Pixie.
