Work starts on £8m Toxteth scheme

CONTACTOR Newry Construction has begun work on a derelict site in Toxteth, Liverpool, destroyed in the riots of 1981.

The £8m scheme, on the corner of Upper Parliament Street and Kingsley Road, will provide 116 studio apartments for rent targeted at professionals working in the nearby hospitals and universities, explained developer Elliot Lawless of Elliot Group.

Elliot Lawless of developer Elliot Group said: “Upper Parliament Street is beginning to reassert itself as one of the south end’s great thoroughfares and our scheme will add to this welcome momentum.

“The area has always proven popular as a rental location due to its proximity to the Women’s Hospital and the universities, as well as the cafes and restaurants of the neighbouring Georgian quarter.

The £8m development branded Parliament Place, which has been designed by Liverpool-based KDP Architects, will be completed in September 2016 and will feature a gym and games room for residents.  The lettings agent is Golding Estates.

Elliot Group is also on site at Queensland Place in Liverpool, where it recently began development of 399 student units on the former Nugent School site on the eastern boundary of the University of Liverpool’s campus.
