Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc

Who We Are

Pacific Primate Sanctuary is a nonprofit wildlife conservation organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of threatened, endangered, and distressed primates. Since 1984, the Sanctuary has maintained a federally authorized facility for threatened New World monkeys, many of whom have been donated from research laboratories and rescued from the exotic pet trade. We provide refuge to Neotropical primates of the species Cebus capucinusCallithrix jacchus, C. penicillataC. kuhliiSaguinas oedipus and Ateles geofroyi.

What We Do

Pacific Primate Sanctuary provides refuge, rehabilitation and permanent care, creating naturalistic habitats where displaced primates can recover and form social groups. We are an entirely volunteer operated organization. The monkeys are nurtured with dedicated care and provided an abundance of organically grown food and forage in an ideal subtropical climate. As part of our zoological horticulture project, we propagate plants indigenous to subtropical rain forests, many related to the plants found in the monkeys’ native habitats. The plants are grown on-site and provide the monkeys with forage appropriate to their natural diets.
