After the success of our October half-term events for kids, this month, we’ve got some fun planned for the grown-ups!

Tech for Good Hack Weekend — Saturday 14th November, 9.30am-Sunday 15th November, 3pm

On the weekend of Saturday 14th November we’re delighted to be welcoming the NSPCC and Virgin Money Giving to Campus North for an all-weekend hackathon. We’ll be joining forces and bringing together the North East’s innovators to come up with new and exciting ways to encourage charitable giving using technology.

Our invited tech evangelists and partners will be providing you with great tech to work with over the course of the weekend, and we’ll keep you well fuelled with delicious good and drink to get those creative juices flowing.

Hack weekends are open to everyone, not just coders, and the strongest teams tend to have a wide range of skills and backgrounds. If you love creating, innovating, problem-solving, or just want to be involved in new and exciting technologies, get signed up for what promises to be a great weekend. There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs when projects are presented on Sunday, so whatever your skillset, get involved! Whether you want to come by yourself or with a team, register for your place here.

Be Afraid — Monday 30th November, 6pm-7.30pm

Simon Finch, speaker on new technologies, social media, and digital citizenship, will be leading a session on the impact of the technologies that increasingly surround us.

In a world where technology maps your every movement, from work to home, the commute, your exercise regime, and everything in between; where robots can recognise your face, voice and fingerprint, and where people can anonymously stalk, torment and bully, in packs, what safeguards can we implement to protect ourselves and our families?

Simon is an expert in e-learning, e-safety, safeguarding, and a wide range of technology and learning related topics, and will take us through the measures we can take to enjoy technology safely.

Tech Breakfast — Wednesday 8th December, 8am

Looking forward to December, our second Tech Breakfast event will be on Wednesday 2nd December at 8am in Bunker Café and Kitchen. Keep an eye on Twitter for event registration, opening soon!
