Did you know HLN has a “news show” called The Daily Share? Wait, let’s back up. Did you know HLN exists? Of course you do, because you love Nancy Grace and Dr. Drew, which are the two biggest draws to the Time Warner-owned channel, which also features just a few other series: Vacation Chasers, Morning Express, Weekend Express and a little something called The Daily Share.
The Daily Share, bold in concept, seeks to interview via Skype people on social media as experts about trending news topics. If you can’t see how this might be problematic, please watch to the 1:50 mark of host Yasmin Vossoughian’s interview about Edward Snowden’s new Twitter presence with “supporter” Jon Hendren. The first sign there may be an issue with his credibility is that his handle on Twitter, according to the chyron, is “@fart.” But hey, this is the new world we live in.

To give credit to Vossoughian, she keeps plowing through the interview, asking Hendren follow-up questions that refuse to acknowledge that he has started talking about the plot of the movie Edward Scissorhands. I can’t tell if I honestly wished more news stories worked like this, or if this is the sign of the end of times. Perhaps both…after all, we live in a Waldo-world now.
