The fact that Grey's Anatomy is huge on Twitter is no surprise; it’s been around for a bajillion seasons (give or take) and, along with all the other Shonda Rhimes shows, breeds online discussion. What is surprising, however, is that shows like Scream Queens, which haven’t even premiered yet, are also getting huge Twitter followings.

Overall, Nielsen and Twitter have clocked some 21 million tweets about the upcoming fall TV premieres—up 34 percent over last year. Some 2.2 million of those tweets went to fan fave Grey’s Anatomy with Supernatural close behind with 2 million tweets. Meanwhile, amongst the new TV crop, the upcoming Lady Gaga-starring American Horror Story: Hotel has hit 1.1 million tweets and Scream Queens already has 314,000 tweets. (Hey, it’s Ryan Murphy's world, we just live in it.)
