What should I not miss in Copenhagen?

Hi, I will be spending 4 days in Copenhagen in early November. What is the weather like then and what should I not miss? Thanks for your help.

Hello Maria,

November is a quite cold month lets say. If it is not windy and if you dress well, then it's ok. As Danish people say: "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes" :) Always remember: The sunshine lives within us!

Things not to miss:

Kastellet and The Little Mermaid : the Little Mermaid (based on the fairytale of Hans Christian Andersen) is quite small and some people get disappointed when they see her. But still its a must see. Kastellet is one of the best preserved star fortresses in Northern Europe, nice to visit and walk around.

Amalienborg palace: the winter home of the Danish royal family. Remember: Every day at noon, you can watch the change of guards in the court yard :)

Nyhavn:  a 17th-century waterfront, canal and entertainment district featured in most of the Danish post cards :)

Freetown Christiania: a self-proclaimed autonomous neighbourhood of about 850 residents

Strøget: Strøget is a pedestrian, car free shopping area - one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Europe at 1.1 km.

Rundetårn: one of the many architectural projects of Christian IV, it was built as an astronomical observatory

Torvehallerne: great food market with lots of shops

Rosenborg Slot: a renaissance castle, originally built as a country summerhouse in 1606.

My suggestions to see all the above:

Go for a Copenhagen walking tour:

if the weather is nice go for a bike tour in Copenhagen:

http://www.tourboks.com/en/product/copenhagen-city-bike-tour.html

if you are a foodie then go for a Copenhagen Food Tour for food tasting with off-the-beaten sightseeing:

http://www.tourboks.com/en/product/copenhagen-food-tasting-tour-.html

or if you just like to be transported in the right places and have the freedom to do what you want, when you want, then i suggest a Copenhagen hop on hop off bus tour :

PS: i work at Tourboks and i live in Copenhagen so i would be glad to suggest more if you wish ;)

Have fun and enjoy the happiest city on earth :)

In addition to what the first poster suggested, I would add the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art which is about 30-40 minutes away by train.

Take a boat tour - there are some that cost 40 dkk and leave from Nyhavn(iconic place to visit and very photogenic) - the tour is going to give you an overview of Copenhagen and from there you can take notes or mark the places you want to see.

For a panoramic view you can chose between Rundetårn or Church of Our Saviour. I would recommend the church as it is a nicer experience to climb op and the view is better in my opinion. Plus, if you visit the church, you'll also get a chance to have a look around that neighbourhood, which is cozy.

Finally if you are into muses, try Louisiana Museum of Modern Art - you'll have to take the train (www.dsb.dk - for train prices) for that but I think it's worth it.
