The newest Detroit Tiger Daniel Norris is not your ordinary millionaire. Usually when you think of someone with that kind of dough, they live the lavish lifestyle.

That's not the case for the 22-year-old Norris. During the off-season he lives in his 1978 Volkswagen van.

According to MILB.com:

"[The Blue Jays] have expressed concern as far as living in the van. For them, it's just, 'Why?' They've kind of said, 'Well, we don't think that's a very good idea.' I said, 'You've got to understand, I've been doing stuff like this my whole life,'" explained Norris, who, in addition to surfing and hiking, is an avid mountain biker and rock climber and also ranks as MLB.com's No. 25 overall prospect.

There is no word yet on when we will see Norris in the Old English "D," but you would have to assume it will be sooner rather than later.

What's it like in his van?

Let's just say it doesn't look plush.

We're not sure if it's a hipster affectation or a product of his mountain and surfing lifestyle, but we can't help but wonder how Detroit fans will feel about it. Also, we hope he knows there's little opportunity for surfing in the Motor City.

The Tennessee native is considered one of the MLB's top pitching prospects. He had a $2 million contract with the Jays.

While he was trying to earn a spot in the starting rotation of the Blue Jays, he was known to camp in Walmart parking lots and use shopping cart corrals as workout props.

Employees called him "van man."
