Anglers planning a trip to the Hoh River on the northern Olympic coast will need to be aware of newly implemented regulations.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1 until further notice, selective gear will need to be used and all chinook must be relsased on Lower Hoh River from the DNR Oxbow Campground boat launch to the Olympic National Park boundary near the mouth of the Hoh.

The new rules were necessary since poor numbers of wild summer chinook are still present in the river, and changes will be made once water flows increase allowing the fish to move upstream.
