What to do with 3 days in Dublin?

You are in luck! Dublin is on the coast and is also close to the Dublin mountains and Wicklow Mountains National Park You'll have LOTS to do in Dublin aside from museums and churches but, I have to say that we also have some really good museums and art galleries!

Firstly (and I always suggest this) take the DART train from Lansdowne road to Greystones in Co. Wicklow (45 minutes) The DART is an electric train that runs along the coast. There are lots of good restaurants in Greystones for lunch - try Bochelli The Burnaby Lounge & Bar or The Happy Pear After lunch walk the cliff from Greystones to Bray (the walk takes about an hour) where you can pick up the DART again, this time to Howth ( 1 hour) for dinner in one of the seafood restaurants on the pier. Try Aqua Restaurant or Deep Restaurant 

Dublin has two big parks - one on the north of the city and one on the south. Phoenix Park is over 7 hectares and houses the President's house and Dublin Zoo. It also has options near the park for city kayaking with the Wild water kayak club. You could also do horse trekking in the park through Ashtown Stables  St Stephen's Green is a Victorian public park just across the road from Grafton Street and is nice to walk around or picnic in. 

If you have time try to go to Glendalough -it's really beautiful and, if you like walking, the Spink Walking Trail has spectacular views of the Upper and Lower lakes. 

My favourite restaurants in Dublin are The Vintage Kitchen The Pig's Ear Pichet - if you really want to splash out go to Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud or Chapter One RestaurantPichet

Be sure to visit a Dublin pub while you're here, I like Grogan's Long Hall and the The Palace Bar You could do a Dublin Literary Pub Crawl, which leaves from the Duke pub on Duke St at 7.15PM and is a good walking tour that takes you through the Dublin streets and pubs that inspired many of our great writers like James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Seán O'Casey and Brendan Kennelly.
