1. ArcGIS Online can be used to give voice to community organizations and individuals to be able to visualize their stories, spatial understand their geographic setting, and to more effectively communicate with a broader audience (a handful of examples will be shown).  
2. In May 2014 President Obama announced that Esri has pledged to provide GIS to every school in the country. This initiative is called ConnectED and this institute is part of a nation-wide effort to implement it.
