Selling your car-A few tricks to get the

If you’re planning to sell or trade in your car, it’s as important as ever to make a good first impression.

Remove all personal items. The trick here is to make your car look like it’s ready for someone else to jump in and go. Get rid of any trash and non-essential clutter. Be sure to look for things that “live” in your car, like phone chargers, sunglasses and coins in the ashtray.

Wash and detail your car. Removing dirt and grime can go a long way toward making your car more attractive to a prospective buyer. Wash the car’s exterior, and consider having it professionally detailed. (Visit to the Don Ayres Honda Car Spa! We’ll wash and vacuum your car, buff the car’s exterior, shampoo the carpets and floor mats, clean and de-grease the engine compartment and clean and shampoo the trunk compartment. Cost is $119.95 for cars and $169.95 for vans, trucks and SUVs. Call 260-205-8885 to schedule.)

Inspect the engine. Pop the hood and make sure everything is in working order. While you’re at it, top off all fluids.

Make repairs. Now’s the time to fix that broken tail light or the tear in the back seat upholstery.

Gather pertinent paperwork. Collect any documentation you have regarding the car’s service history, and place it in the glove compartment along with the car’s Owner’s Manual. You’ll also want to make sure you have the car’s title handy.

Taking the time to spiff up your car will go a long way toward getting an attractive offer. Sure, you’ll have to spend a little time and energy (and maybe even a little cash) on the front end, but doing so will help you get a great return on your investment!
