The Incomparable Dick Flood


The Incomparable Dick Flood Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Dick Flood rose to fame as half of the 1950s duo The Country Lads. In 1956, the Lads landed gigs as regular cast members on The Jimmy Dean Show, a hit variety show on CBS. Columbia Records soon inked the boys to a major recording contract and released multiple singles.  In 1959 Dick Flood landed at #23 on The Billboard Hot 100 as a solo artist with his version of “The Three Bells.” Soon Mr. Flood took part ownership of Monument Records and penned songs covered by Roy Orbison, The Holidays, Anita Bryant. He scored a #1 hit in 1962 with the song “Gee” by George Hamilton IV. Dick went on to release records with both Epic Records and Kapp Records. Mr. Flood then moved to Nashville where he performed at The Grand Ole Opry and joined the Grand Ole Opry Tours, sharing the stage with Ferlin Husky, Ray Price, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash.
