our new spring release wines

we're seeing things pink this season

Introducing our stellar 2015 spring release lineup, including the definitive patio wine: our inaugural French-style Rosé made from 100% Pinot Noir. We call it a trip to the French Riviera, in a bottle. Bringing the Sauvignon Blanc back: previously, our 2012 Sauvignon Blanc won Gold at the National Wine Awards of Canada, then in 2013 we decided to be bold and creative. Now, with 2014, we brought back what made our 2012 Sauvignon so great, and used grapes from our Summa Quies block III.

This year represents a harmonious coming together of all the elements, and with a little help from Mother Nature, we're extremely proud to present these remarkable wines to you from our estate located on the Naramata Bench. With tenacity, we uphold a benchmark of consistency that goes into each bottle for you to enjoy.

"Our vines, our wines." - Luke Smith, proprietor & winemaker

VINYARD NEWS

BUD BREAK
This has been our earliest ever bud break with shoots springing up in early April. This is setting up the 2015 vintage very nicely and we're excited for how the growing season will shape up.

WINE GONE TECHIE
Winemaking includes shiny new toys sometimes. In our case, our new leaf puller has been an incredible addition. Removing the basal leaf is integral to winemaking so that the grapes receive the sunshine they need to become plump and juicy - wine ready. Doing it by hand is tedious, and getting a little help from technology does not impact the quality of the wine. As such, the machine is the best man for the job here. Given my European tractor, I was able to get one that attaches to the front.

"WILDLIFE"
Things are clucking away at Howling Bluff: we've added some friendly chickens to the Estate. Truly free range, not only do we get fresh eggs every morning (so many in fact, we're selling them by the dozen in the Wine Shop), but vineyard chickens provide great organic natural pesticide for the vines. Our dogs Quies and Lucy have had to be taught a few lessons about not nipping after the 'girls'. They now know better.

BUSINESS
You may have noticed things looking a bit different at Howling Bluff.  Joining our team is Axelle Bazett, the Marketing Communications Manager. For all marketing or media opportunities, please email her.

We are also working with some dedicated wine sales reps throughout the province.

GALAS, TASTINGS, EVENTS, OH MY!

Tasting event season kicked into high gear this week, with Howling Bluff spring releases showcasing at both the Victoria Arts 'n' Facts event in support of the Royal BC Museum, and also at the EAT! Vancouver Canadian Flavours Gala where some of Canada's top chefs paired bites with wines from the Naramata Bench.

Next up you'll find us at the 20th anniversary Bacchanalia at the Penticton Lakeside Resort on Saturday May 2.
