Clear your mind and double your business

Clear your mind and double your business

What a great week!

One of our long term clients told me he had the best sales month in 40 years of running his business.

Hearing stories like this is the reason I love what I do.

It made me realise that the vast bulk of sales enquiries we receive at roi.com.au come from people who want to double their sales.

But we all know only a small percentage of businesses achieve this rate of growth and most of them don’t sustain it for very long.

So what happens to these lofty ambitions? Are they unrealistic? Do most of us get too busy with other things? Do we work too much in the business, not enough on the business? There are loads of reasons why we don’t achieve these goals.

In the past 2 weeks I have spoken to more than 10 business owners trying to understand their:

• Current sales

• Sales projections for the next 3 months

• Best opportunity to grow sales in next 3 months and why

In almost every case, they instinctively knew how their business was going. However, there was a lack of clarity around:

• The best opportunity for growth in the next 3 months

• The weekly rhythm of activity aligned to achieving that goal

If you, your team or your marketing agency does not know this, how are you going to achieve the success you crave?

In June, I attended an entrepreneur university event in New York where I was privileged to hear Caroline McHugh speak.

Caroline is a world leader on helping people become original versions of themselves. She calls this Return on Individuality and she left a lasting impression on me.

Her methods recognise traits that hold us back and reacquaint us with the spirit we had as seven-year-olds to naturally recognise what we were best at, how simple life was and why we were happy. She talks about this in her video The Art of Being Yourself.

Applying this back to our business lives, one trait I see holding back many businesses is generating reports which no-one acts on. This is inefficient and a distraction.

Ok, now we have cleared our mind, here are 5 tips to double your business in 2015:

• Write down the best initiative you have implemented in the past 12 months, replicate or improve it

• Turn off or bid down on 50% of your Adwords spend and invest the savings in something which provides better returns

• Make your website reflect the sales pitch of your best sales person

• Turn 5pm-8pm into a peak sales period for next-day service bookings

• Create a new engaged audience database

Love the insights here. Been thinking about the same thing recently - what am I best at, what do I love doing and and how can I tune into that frequency fully? Because that's my corner of power, where I do the best work and feel the most fulfilled. And each time I get distracted, I move further away from it. Thanks for this post.
