Now up for lease in the Hollywood Hills is a four-bedroom, three-bath home owned by actress Salma Hayek.
Built in 1962, the ranch-style residence is sited on a cul-de-sac in the Outpost Estates neighborhood and comes fully furnished. Features include vaulted, beamed ceilings, walls of glass, hardwood and tiled floors, a wood-burning fireplace, terraced gardens, city and canyon views, a swimming pool and multiple decks. Monthly rent is $9,750, and Sotheby’s International Realty agent Jacqueline Tager has the listing.
The actress/director — whose latest project The Prophet, an animated film she produced and voices a role in, comes out August 7 — purchased the .58-acre property in 1996 and has been leasing it out for several years.
Hayek isn’t the only leading lady who’s also a landlady. Oscar-winner Charlize Theron owns a number of properties in Los Angeles, one of which — a top-floor loft in Hollywood’s historic Broadway Hollywood building — is now up for lease at $7,999 per month. Theron reportedly shelled out over $2 million in 2008 for the penthouse loft in the 24-hour doorman building.
Per the listing, which is with Deedee Howard of The Agency, the 2,149-square-foot unit features a one-bedroom loft on the second level with private deck and outdoor fireplace, a media room with projector, two marble-appointed baths, two open office areas, a gourmet kitchen with Viking appliances and excellent views of the Capitol Records building, the Hollywood sign and the Hollywood Hills.
Yet another Academy-Award-winning landlady is Hilary Swank, who last week put her two-bedroom pied-a-terre in NYC’s West Village up for lease. The 1,441-square-foot apartment will cost you more to rent than Salma and Charlize’s places combined — $20K/month — but hey, it’s furnished.
A more affordable option would be the Glendale residence of Taraji P. Henson. The Oscar- and Emmy-nominated actress, who plays Loretha “Cookie” Lyon in Fox’s hit Empire, recently listed her 1930s Spanish at $3,400 per month. According to Zillow, Henson purchased the property in 2002, but has not lived there herself for some time. The 1,406-square-foot home features two bedrooms, two baths, hardwood floors, French doors, a tiled fireplace and a swimming pool.
