There is so much truth in the title of this post: Autism Parents never get to switch it off
Parents of kids on the Autism Spectrum have to operate 24/7/365 for the duration of their natural lives.
If we get any sleep, it’s with one eye open and our ear to the floor because unless our kids take a break, we don’t get one.
There’s no end to the stress an Autism parent feels because Autism impacts nearly every single aspect of their lives.
Stress is the Autism parents natural enemy and it can manifest both physically and emotionally. I’m so stressed out right now that I’m physically ill.
I just thought that maybe it would benefit others to have this put into words they can share with the people in their lives.
