Surface Pro 3 & ZBrush Pressure Sensitivity Drop

Hi everyone!

I`m looking for some feedback and hopefully a solution to an issue I am having when running ZBrush 4R7 on the Surface Pro 3.

Initially everything works fine. You can create a Dynamesh sphere and sculpt happily, even load one of the custom models like the DemoHead and play around with that with the pens pressure sensitivity working fine.

The problem I am having is when I import an OBJ or load in a ZBrush scene I started on my desktop the pressure sensitivity drops.

You can see the problem in this video at around the 10 minute mark, when I import my Red Sonja model -

If possible could you try the following and reply with your results, to see if you get the same issues?

  1. Load ZBrush 4R7 64bit or 32bit.
  2. Select a Dynamesh sphere and test sculpt on it.
  3. Next load and sculpt on one of the tools which comes with ZBrush like DemoHead.
  4. This time import an obj file and sculpt on that.
  5. This is where things break and the pressure is lost.
  6. If you now try and go back to the DemoHead the pressure is still lost.

If you like you can even download the Red Sonja model from here - Red Model - So your using the same model.

Any feedback would be really useful and greatly appreciated!

The more people who try it the better and if it turns out to be a wider issue I will try and get Pixologic, Microsoft or N-Trig to come up with a solution.

Thanks everyone!

Did you find any solutions Anchuvi?

I’m using an sp3 i5 with 4r7 p3… I can sometimes switch between programs and get it working again. Lately I’ve been having to restart zb though.

I just wanted to confirm that I also see this behavior on Surface Pro 3 I7 using ZBrush 4R7 P3.
I have no solution for it yet.

Anyone have any solutions or workarounds for his yet???

Hi everyone,

Sorry for not updating this sooner but I had lost all hope of working in Zbrush on the Surface Pro until a recent update seemed to fix things.

Check out this post and see if it works for you too.
