NASCAR 2015 at Homestead-Miami weather forecast: Threat of rain continues

Combination of a stalled boundary over South Florida on Saturday and an approaching cold front on Sunday keeps the threat of wet weather over Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend.

While parts of the weather forecast for Homestead-Miami Speedway have changed, the general idea is still keeping rain and thunderstorms a threat through the rest of the weekend.

Stalled boundary over South Florida on Saturday will cause areas of scattered showers and thunderstorms to form. We might see more activity develop as we go into the afternoon. While the threat is there of a passing shower or storm there will also be dry time. The odds of on-track activities and racing on Saturday are around 60 to 65 percent with a chance of a delay or two.

SUNDAY REMAINS THE WETTEST DAY: A second cold front works into south Florida Saturday night through the day on Sunday. This system will increase moisture and the coverage of showers and possible storms. There could be a couple of windows of opportunity during the afternoon but the odds of racing Sunday remain under 50 percent. Homestead-Miami has lights but showers could last into the evening and overnight. Again there could be a few breaks during the afternoon but at this point it's hard to say how long any rain free window might last.

Odds of a complete Sprint Cup race still remains low between 40 and 45 percent. Odds of a partial race that could get to halfway is a little better if we get a long enough window, I'd put that around 50 to maybe 60 percent.

IF NEEDED -- WHAT DOES MONDAY LOOK LIKE? With the low odds of racing on Sunday, many fans have asked what Monday looks like. It is definitely drier as the cold front sweeps through taking the moisture with it. There is still a chance of showers but mostly morning with the bulk of the day looking dry. It will be slightly cooler and windy on Monday. If Sunday were to get washed out then NASCAR would probably schedule the race for around midday on Monday.
