Walt Disney's Desert Party House Now in Disrepair, Foreclosure

New, 21 comments

This place used to be the guesthouse on Walt Disney's old estate near Palm Desert, and he'd come here to kick back with his famous friends (the Rat Packers, Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Humphrey Bogart), party, and maybe do a little ziplining (there used to be a zipline in the canyon). The one-bedroom, which sits on three acres of gloriously open desert, came up for sale in April 2014 asking $595,000, but apparently that went very poorly. It went into foreclosure last December and either its old owners or desert bandits stripped it for parts at some point: "Short sale. Home is in need of major work- Won't qualify for financing. Missing appliances, and entire HVAC system and more," says a new listing up today. And bonus: there are also $60,000 worth of liens on the place. It's all set to go up for auction, but you can get it for $350,000—all cash—right now.
