Bucktown: More Multifamily for The 606

Chicago

Bucktown's much-anticipated elevated park, The 606, is blazing the trail for a major residential real estate development nearby. A neighborhood community group just gave plans for a six-story, 100-unit apartment complex near The 606 the green light Monday. Developer Centrum Partners would spend an estimated $37M on the project, at 1759-67 N Milwaukee Ave, which would be anchored by an existing Aldi grocery store, DNAinfo reports. The complex would connect to a portion of the elevated public park, also known as the Bloomingdale Trail, and feature a 4.4k SF restaurant and 120 parking spots for residents and shoppers. The 606, set to open this June, has spurred interest in residential and commercial real estate around Humboldt Park, Bucktown and Wicker Park—the major neighborhoods it crosses with its 2.7-mile track. This development, dubbed Centrum 606, would be one of the areas largest mixed-use complexes, but it has been criticized by some community members for lacking affordable housing. [DNAinfo]
