A company based in Canada by the name of Dubuc Motors has announced plans for a four-seat electric sports car that it hopes to start selling in 2016.

Dubuc is calling its electric car the Tomahawk and right now it’s still in the prototype stage. The company is seeking investors for the project and hopes to have the first cars on sale for less than $100k by the aforementioned 2016 date.
Dubuc hasn’t released full details for the Tomahawk just yet but says the car will feature a dual-motor drivetrain (a motor at each axle) creating an all-wheel-drive system. It will be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just over 3.0 seconds, and the top speed is being limited to 140 mph to help maximize range, which Dubuc says will be about 275 miles.

The beauty of Dubuc’s design is that the aluminum chassis of the Tomahawk is highly flexible, meaning it can be easily modified for other vehicle types including a people mover ideal for taxiing duties as well as a utility-type vehicle.
