Fleksy brings search to your keyboard, courtesy of Yahoo

In the course of a conversation, you may stumble into a topic you're not quite sure about. A simple question could lead to a protracted debate or discussion, with curiosity getting the better of you. Rather than flip-flop between apps, it would be a lot easier if you had some sort of in-line search feature in a conversation. Now, you do. Fleksy is announcing a deal which brings Yahoo right to your keyboard. Rather than find Siri, Google Now, or a browser, you can search from anywhere.

It's really pretty simple, and also subtly brilliant. Fleksy's Yahoo extension adds a search bar to your keyboard, which acts just like a search bar in a browser. Enter your query, and results pop right up.

Fleksy offers many themes for users, typically branding your keyboard with new colors. Extensions, on the other hand, offer up usable features like a dedicated numbers row or GIF finder. Yahoo search falls under the extension portion (don't worry, you won't have to have a 'Yahoo purple' keyboard).

Kosta Eleftheriou, Co-founder and CEO of Fleksy, said "We couldn't be more thrilled to partner with Yahoo in building the Search Extension. This marks a major milestone for us. Due to the keyboard's high engagement, opened 180 times a day on average, and its position at the front line of mobile interaction, we believe contextual search on the keyboard can present a transformative experience. Delivering Extensions with market leaders such as Yahoo is the first step in advancing that goal. "

The Yahoo extension is Fleksy's first branded one. It's available now for both Android and iOS.
