Rumor has it that the next Surface systems is coming soon, perhaps at Microsoft’s late April BUILD conference. Now it seems the company may be looking to clear out inventory in preparation of that announcement.

Every version of the Surface Pro 3 except the entry level Core i3 model has been slashed by $100, starting with the Core i5, 128GB version, which is now just $899.

The quicker and more expensive models have received an even more aggressive $150 discount, however. That includes the Core i5 and i7 models with 256GB solid state drive, and the Core i7 model with 512GB SSD.

Microsoft has not said how long the sale will last. It could end today, or it could continue until the next Surface models are announced. Budget-minded buyers might try to wait out for an even better deal, but don’t hold your breath; these cuts are already deep, particularly on the Core i5 model.

Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg took to Instagram on Tuesday to knock Apple’s new Vision Pro headset while singing the praises of his own company’s Quest 3 alternative.

For the rest of it, he lauds Meta’s Quest 3 headset while at the same time tearing into Apple’s competing device, which launched earlier this month.

3 ways the Quest 3 is better than the Vision Pro
Meta CEO Zuckerberg models the Quest 3 on the left while someone else wears an Apple Vision Pro on the right.

Meta's Quest 3 VR headset costs a fraction of Apple's Vision Pro, and while it didn't grab as many headlines, a humble Quest 3 quietly does several things better than Apple's ultra-premium spatial computer.

It's a topic that's been a source of contention in social media lately as Vision Pro fans fend off feisty Quest 3 owners who claim Meta's popular, low-cost device is still the best VR headset at one-seventh the price.
