A LAND developer wants to sell more than 250 blocks in an ambitious subdivision he has planned for Oberon’s western outskirts.

Ross Gibson, who owns the land, says Oberon is booming and he is confident residents crowded out of Sydney and the Blue Mountains will want to take up a new lifestyle opportunity.
“Oberon is growing and these blocks will be attractive to families, investors and those moving from the city,” he said.
“The Blue Mountains is over-populated and people are looking further out for their lifestyle changes.
“We are only a couple of hours from Sydney and Canberra and Oberon is booming at the moment with the timber industry and tourism.”
Oberon Council approved Mr Gibson’s original 19-lot subdivision for 32 Bracken Glen Lane/Abercrombie Road in November 2014.
The development, for the area behind and adjacent to Oberon Cemetery, was to have been completed in two stages.
But Mr Gibson is now thinking bigger.
He has a development application before council for a total 254-block development in which the blocks will average 4000 square metres (one acre) to 7000 square metres (1.75 acres).
He said the benefit of the rural blocks in his Fields Urbane Estate will be the services provided.
Each lot will have town sewerage, town water supply, natural gas, underground power and telephone, and the National Broadband Network tower in close proximity.
Mr Gibson said the lots, only a couple of kilometres from town, will have the benefits of a rural lifestyle with the convenience of town services.
Darrin McFawn from Oberon First National Real Estate said there has been a lot of demand for this type of real estate in the past 18 months as people relocate from Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
“The development will be over 20 stages – stage one will be 26 blocks and stage two will consist of 13 blocks,” he said.
“We have already had a lot of interest in this development and stage one blocks can be purchased off the plans with prices starting at $200,000.
“The selling point for these blocks is the rural outlook and lifestyle with all the town services.”
