Why did you pick this program?
I heard many great things about Korvia Consulting before. They responded to your emails as best they can and with speed too. Many other programs offered the same or similar things, but the program was a better fit for me as I liked how they would personally get to know more about your personality and you as a person to find a suitable location and school than place you somewhere at random. This helped me to better prepare myself and be more comfortable to live in another country.
What do you wish someone had told you before you went abroad?
Be prepared to live out of your comfort zone. It's not a battlefield mind you, but just know that there are things that you will encounter to be different. You might find bread that tastes more like dessert, pizza with potato toppings as well as kimchi and rice everywhere you go but don't worry, there are other options out there too! Try it! You might find that you actually like it.
What is the most important thing you learned abroad?
Be flexible. There are times you won't understand the teaching structure or why things are done a certain way. There have been times where I felt I needed more clarity as to what was going on at school as most of the information passed out was in another language I could understand a little of. There were days I have been given a surprise task but I've learnt to adjust, always be ready and just do the best I can.
What do you tell your friends who are thinking about going abroad?
There is never a better time than now. Don't wait because you will end up missing out. You might be waiting for the perfect time but it doesn't really exist. If you want to travel, just go for it! It could be your once in a lifetime opportunity so don't hesitate, just do it!
What was the hardest part about going abroad?
Being away from family is the hard part of course. I still miss them everyday but when I do get to travel back home for vacation, I make sure to make up for the lost time. It might be hard when you are living alone in another country, but my advice is to surround yourself with some good friends and try to make the most of it since you never know how long you will be staying there!
