The Albright Community Garden is set for another season, thanks to the work of a group of volunteers on Sunday.
The garden on Linden Street behind the Experiential Learning and Career Development Center hosted the fourth annual Albright Community Garden Permablitz.
The event is designed to prepare the garden for the growing season.
About 30 volunteers spent the day weeding, planting seeds, adding compost, building rain barrels and mulching.
“We’re doing all the preseason work,” said Brian Jennings, an associate professor of sociology and environmental science at Albright. “It’s been very successful.”
The garden provides space for Albright faculty and staff and community members to garden. A portion of the garden is for growing fruits and vegetables that are sold on campus.
The garden uses permaculture, a design process promoting agricultural, environmental, architectural, technological and economic sustainability, and utilizes recycled products from campus.
