TWRP is by far my favorite custom recovery. It is the recovery that is updated most often, and has the most features. I also just love the touch user interface with the big buttons that make flashing roms and other mods supper simple on a device with no hardware buttons. Team Win Recovery Project received a major update today which brings many improvements. The newest build is 2.8.6.0. Some of the main enhancements include keyboard and scroll bar enhancements, and an update to the AOSP 5.1 base.

If you are running Android 5.1 this is definitely the recovery you want to be using since it will handle the files and flash paths which have been changed in Lollipop correctly. A full list of changes can be found below.

  • Fix daylight savings time rules for USA and Europe (_that)
  • Allow mulitple overlays for popup boxes (Dees_Troy)
  • Add pattern style password entry for decrypt (Tassadar)
  • Keyboard improvements (_that)
  • Update AOSP base to 5.1 (Dees_Troy)
  • Reduce theme count to 5 and rely on scaling (Dees_Troy)
  • Various scaling improvements (Dees_Troy)
