World of Warcraft 6.0.2 patch brings improved character models today

Blizzard isn't just tweaking World of Warcraft in preparation for Warlords of Draenor. Today's patch revamps the game's character models across all races.

Blizzard is ready to step into Warlords of Draenor, thanks to the new 6.0.2 patch that sets the stage for World of Warcraft's latest expansion. However, Blizzard isn't just adding a new world event and tweaking classes. It's changing the very look of WoW by revamping the game's character models with better resolution and whole new animation.

Those that log into World of Warcraft after today's patch will notice new and improved looks for each of game's races. That includes Dwarves, Gnomes, Humans, Night Elves, Orcs, Taurens, Trolls, Undead, and Draenei all getting increased texture resolution and more expressive facial animations.

Players will also find a new world event called 'Iron Horde Incursion,' which sees parties venturing to the Blasted Lands to face the incoming Iron Horde. The event will feature a five-player instance of a revamped Upper Blackrock Spire dungeon.

Other balance tweaks and quality of life improvements have also been tossed in and you can find all of those details in the new patch notes on Battle.net.

But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Can confirm, models are awesome. They totally changed how stats are working, as well as did a stat compression to bring all the insanely high numbers back to something more reasonable. All your level 90 gear stats now look more like gear from level 70.

Hanging out to finish work today to get home and see all the new changes....time to re-learn how to play all my toons, but particuarly my Preist. Healers got the biggest changes this time around, will be interesting to see how it pans out. I can see us healers being yelled out while we work out how to best use our talents now :(

This was the one stipulation I ever made for returning to WoW because it's the one thing I never thought they'd actually do.

And then I realized I made up these stipulations and I'm not obligated to do jack shit about returning to the game, hahahaha

Got to play for about 30 minutes. I am liking the visual upgrades, and some of the druid ability combination improvements are nice, I am really starting to become disappointed with how the druid is becoming like every other class in terms of losing a lot of off-spec utility.

While better than nothing the game is still looking dated. Now that they've scrapped Titans they should just go with a true WoW sequel with a modern engine.

The changes this time around just aren't that big. Every other expansion they've seemed much more major, all these class changes seem to be fairly minor. The only thing I actually find interesting is the speed improvements, 40x faster response time to inputs seems like it could be neat. WoW already felt like one of the most responsive MMOs to me, nearly everything else has always felt floaty.

The class changes are more of an iteration from the big revamp they did for Mists. The huge change/addition with this expansion is Garrisons.

Yeah, it's a bit disappointing though. A lot of the specs right now seem rough, at 100 they may work but they're pretty bad right now.

That's pretty typical for a pre-expansion patch, in my experience.

I guess, I'm just not really excited about any of these changes like I was for the other pre-expansion patches.

Keep in mind that this is the first expansion since Lich King that gives you 10 levels to gain, not just five.

I resubbed so I can mess with this stuff. Still not sure if I'll grab the expansion at launch since DA:I is out right after that.

I wish you got a free appearance change with the update, because I'm sure I'll want to change some stuff on my guys.
